This 5’ x 5’ pool pillow is a nice addition to an above-ground pool winterizing setup. One of the first things I noticed is that the material feels substantial and heavier than some of the thinner pool pillows I’ve used or seen. The 0.5mm PVC gives it a more durable feel, which is important for something that’s expected to sit under a pool cover through an entire winter. I also really appreciate that it comes with 66 feet of rope. There’s plenty to work with for positioning and securing the pillow in the center of the pool rather than having to purchase rope separately. The attachment points make it much easier to keep the pillow where you want it while installing the winter cover. The 5’ x 5’ size provides a good amount of surface area for an above-ground pool. As with any winter pool pillow, I would be careful not to inflate it completely solid. Leaving some room for the air to compress gives the pillow flexibility as temperatures change and pressure from rain, snow and ice builds on the cover. Everything arrives packaged fairly compactly considering the size of the pillow once inflated, and the PVC appears well constructed. Of course, the real test of a winter pool pillow is how well it holds air after several months of freezing temperatures, so long-term durability will take a full winter season to determine. Overall, I’m impressed with the thickness of the material, generous amount of included rope and large 5’ x 5’ size. It feels like a well-thought-out winterizing product and includes what you need to get it positioned properly. 5 stars so far — sturdy material, generous size and the included 66’ rope is a big plus.

We have made it a rule being on the Amazon Vine Program to only request items we would actually use in our home or families needs and to leave honest legitimate review’s. Needless to say, everything we request is utilized often by myself or my family. We own a small Intex above ground pool that we get out every Summer for the kids. This review is for the Giveuplay 4x4 Pool Pillow. Prior to receiving this product, my wife had used a pool float to act in the same fashion as this pool pillow. To be honest, prior to seeing this on Vine, I didn’t know these were even a thing. They are basically a pool float that allows the pool cover to shed water and debris and not allow the cover to fall into the pool. Like a tent pole in the middle of a swimming pool. The pool pillow measures 4 feet by 4 feet, has plastic grommet cut outs (4) around its circumference to add rope tie downs (rope is Included) to tie it in place in the middle of the pool, and comes with a 1 one valve when filling it up. We used a small Intex pool float pump to fill it up. Took about 5 minutes is all. I would never inflate this thing by mouth. Unless you want to pass out. 😉 The pool pillow was deployed and has been working well since we got it. We did have to let air out of it to allow the pool cover to actually cover our pool. The pool pillow was too tall (up and down, water to cover) to fit our smaller pool. So the pool pillow is only 50% full when in use. This pool pillow will only be in use during the warmer Summer months for us. We will deflate when we take the pool down after school starts. But thus far, has been working well and is has not lost any of its air. Other than the air what we let out. Highly useful if you have an above ground pool like we do. I’ll update the review if we find that it’s not holding up well.

I haven’t actually used these 4 x 4 ft pool pillows yet since it’s not winter, but I’m very impressed with how sturdy and well made they feel. The size is perfect for my pool, and it looks like it'll provide great support under the pool cover. I feel confident that it's going to do it's job and help protect my pool when winter rolls around. So far, I’m very happy with the quality and look forward to putting it to the test this winter.

I picked up this 4 x 4-foot pool pillow for closing my above-ground pool and liked that it came with a generous length of rope to help keep it positioned where I wanted it. The pillow was easy to inflate and had a nice size once it was filled, giving me plenty of coverage across the middle of the pool. The 0.5mm PVC feels thicker and more durable than some of the cheap pool accessories I’ve used in the past, which is especially important when it’s going to sit outside through the winter. I was able to secure it without much trouble, and it stayed in place nicely after everything was tightened down. Having the pillow under the winter cover also helps keep the cover from sitting completely flat on the water, which is exactly what I wanted it for. So far I’m very happy with the quality and size, and it seems like it should hold up well through the colder months. Easy to us.

Every year when we close our pool, we choose one big float to “sacrifice” under the pool cover. This usually works to keep the pool cover from sinking down into the water under the weight of snow/wet leaves, etc, but it means the float we used gets gross and slimy over the winter, and it usually ends up getting tossed when we open the pool in the spring. Another issue with using a regular float is that they tend to sag/collect water in the middle. This “pool pillow” solves all those problems and then some. It’s much larger than you realize, but we have a large in ground pool and this is perfect. It fits the center without being too close to any of the sides. The fact that it’s rounded vs flat means the pool cover won’t gather water in the center, keeping the pool cover dry and making it much easier to fold up after removing it in the spring. We used an air compressor to blow this up and it didn’t take very much time. The material is high quality and thick- thicker than an average pool float. This means we’ll be able to deflate and reuse it, so no more “sacrificial” pool floats! As a pool owner for more than 10 years, I can’t believe I haven’t found this product sooner!

I ordered this pool pillow for our 9-foot poly pool. I needed something to place underneath the tarp/pool cover to help shed rainwater while the pool is stored, and this worked great. I was able to inflate it easily with a hand pump instead of having to blow it up by mouth, which saved a lot of time and effort. The instructions recommend not fully inflating the pillow so it can rest on the surface of the water while still allowing room for expansion and contraction. The material feels thick and high quality and seems like it should be fairly resistant to punctures and hold up well over time. Overall, this worked exactly as I hoped it would. It's a nice, well-made pool pillow and was exactly what I was looking for.
