It's an ok system. The biggest detractor, and a spec I don't see anywhere is that is "HD" camera's only record at 15 frames per second. In order to be considered truly HD, it needs to be 30 frames per second at least. There are other things that are extremely klugey about the interface. For example, to back up video on an external drive, the connected drive must be in FAT32. 1993 is calling. For a larger drive, I had to limit the partition to 32gb to get FAT32 as a format option. For my application, I want the device to record continuously for a set period of time. USing the app, you can start recording manually, but you can only record one camera at a time. If you switch in the app to another camera, the recording o nthe first camera stops. USing the app to manage recordings is extremely lacking and extremely slow. If you want to delte recordings, you can to format the internal drive. Honestly, the entire system is trash. ... show more

It is a very good surveillance system. Being able to add up to 8 cameras through the system gives me coverage of all areas of the business. Garbage, can't fast forward on local device. Need a cloud storage subscription to be able to fast forward and even then it's very slow. Didn't set up system until months after purchase, wish I would have returned.

The cameras were very easy to install with the supplied POE cables and the picture quality was very good. My hard drive was broken out of the box and they promptly sent me a new one within a couple days. Outstanding customer service.

    • Finally a good one
This system has all the basics. I do not use any online or modems for this unit. It is truly secure from outside hacking. It has True 8mp cams. No matter what your told the math can't lie. You Need 8mp to achieve 4k picture. Really.. the numbers can't lie. 4k pic = 8.3mp So 8mp cam gets you as close to true 4k as possible without going nuts on super expensive cams over 8mp. Everything works as advertised. Basic package that is. Again. I Do Not use any web service so I don't have phone access to it. Don't want it. That a major vulnerability to have it advertised for hacking My only critice is the motion capture is very weak. Same as every other program I have tried so nothing unusual there. Takes a bit to understand the program setup but simple once you get used to it. Remember....... If you want to see 4K you Must upgrade your monitor to 4k. It won't do any good watching a 4k movie on an old 1080p screen. All you will get is the maximum the screen can produce 1080p. All the equipment must reach the same operating standards or you just not going to get 4k. Same as the competition using 5mp cams and claiming it's 4k. B.S. If you want solid basics this is the one.     • Needed a surveillance hard drive as the computer hard drives run very hot and don't last long.
I bought this for a neighbor and installed it for him. He is really happy with it. The left and right remote buttons don't work when the mouse is plugged in, use the mouse. I bought the junction boxes and 100 foot outdoor ethernet cables. Cut the cables to length and installed new connectors. Had to figure out the sequence of the wires. The tester included with the crimper was a Godsend. Strip about 2 inches of the outer jacket, get the wires in place, pushing them in as far as they will go, and then pulling them back to where there is enough outer jacket to catch the crimp. Take your time straightening the wires and getting them in the rj45 plug all at once. ... show more
