My cats go through our dog door flaps fine (there is no magnet), but they are not strong enough to push the cat door flap open.

Used in interior so cant speak one weather stripping but the only downside was the screws had trouble threading during installation

I bought a different cat door of the same style to this one about a month ago and while it works fine it has some issues. The locking mechanism doesn't work smoothly in one direction and it doesn't have a brush strip along the top of the door, so there was a decent sized gap that air and bugs could get through. This cat door works great, the locking mechanism is easy to use and doesn't get stuck like my other one, and it has a brush strip on all sides including the top. The magnet might be a little strong for some cats liking (there are two instead of just one like some other cat doors) but the door itself swings pretty easy and smoother than my other one. My cat got used to the new door pretty quickly, though I do sometimes hear him pawing at it a few times before going through. The size of the opening is on the larger side but not too big, most cats should be able to fit through it comfortably though a bigger cat might rub the sides a little. I also like that it screws together from just one side (the inside), as opposed to my other one that has to be screwed into the door from both sides. The build quality looks good and it has a deep enough inset from the outside to keep out rain on rainy days (as long as it's not blowing sideways!). I wish I'd gotten this one before the other one as it's all around a better cat door!

Call me crazy but we use this in our patio window to allow our two rescue cats access to the outdoors. They were very vocal in their need to sit outside in our screened in porch - and this is the perfect solution. They learned how to push the flap out of the way to go in and out. My husband cut a piece of wood to hold the door and we just push the window tight to hold it in place. Easy, good quality, great size. We love it!
