I have a two-story house with hardwood stairs and an 8-year-old golden retriever who apparently thinks he's still a puppy. The combo of hardwood stairs and an enthusiastic dog who runs up and down them multiple times a day was giving me serious anxiety. He'd slip constantly, scrambling to get traction, and I was terrified he was gonna hurt himself. I looked into getting carpet installed on the stairs but the quotes I got were like $800+ which seemed insane. So I started looking at these stair tread options and honestly I was skeptical. I thought they'd either not stick properly and just slide around, or they'd stick TOO well and ruin my stairs when I eventually wanted to remove them. But the reviews seemed good so I took a chance and I'm really glad I did. Installation was way easier than I expected. I've got 13 stairs going up to the second floor and it took me maybe 45 minutes to put these on all of them. The instructions say to clean the stairs first so I wiped them all down with some wood cleaner and let them dry. Then you just peel off the backing and press them down. They've got these adhesive strips on the back that stick really well to the wood. I made sure to press down hard on all the edges and corners to get good contact. The grip on these is legit. My dog went bombing up the stairs the first day I installed them and instead of his usual skittering and slipping, he just ran up normally with full traction. It was such a relief. He can take the stairs at whatever speed he wants now and I don't have to worry about him wiping out. Even when his paws are a little wet from being outside, he still gets good grip. I was also worried about them looking weird or cheap but they actually look pretty nice. They're this beige/tan color that goes well with my light wood stairs. They blend in way better than I thought they would. When people come over they don't even really notice them unless I point them out. They just look like part of the stairs. The material feels durable too. I've had these on for about 4 months now and they still look basically new. No fraying around the edges, no peeling up, no wearing down in the middle where people step the most. My dog goes up and down these stairs probably 20+ times a day and they're holding up great. I go up and down carrying laundry baskets, my kids run on them, and they're still in perfect shape. Actually the traction helps me too, especially when I'm wearing socks. I used to have to be super careful going down the stairs in socks because the hardwood is slippery. Now I can just walk normally without doing that awkward careful shuffle. Same thing when I'm carrying stuff up or down - the extra grip makes me feel way more stable. They stay in place really well. I was worried they'd start sliding or bunching up but they haven't budged at all. The adhesive is strong but I tested peeling one up slightly to see how hard it would be to remove eventually, and it came up without leaving any residue or damaging the wood. That was a huge relief because I rent this house and I need to be able to remove them when we move out. I got the 15-pack which was perfect for my 13 stairs - gave me 2 extras in case I messed up during installation but I ended up not needing them. I'm keeping them as backups in case one ever gets damaged, though honestly they seem pretty indestructible. The size fit my stairs perfectly too, they're 8 inches by 30 inches which covered the step width really well without hanging over the edges. One thing I really like is that they're easy to clean. I vacuum them when I'm vacuuming the rest of the house and they clean up just fine. One time my dog tracked mud up the stairs and got some on the treads, I just wiped them with a damp cloth and they looked brand new again. The material doesn't seem to stain easily. The non-slip backing is also great - that's the side that sticks to the stairs. It means the treads themselves aren't going anywhere even with constant foot traffic. Some of these products just use regular adhesive that can fail over time, but these have that rubberized non-slip backing that really grips the wood. My neighbor saw these and asked about them because she's got the same issue with her older dog slipping on their stairs. I sent her the link and she got them too. She texted me a week later saying they worked perfectly for her dog and she wished she'd gotten them sooner. If you've got hardwood stairs and pets, or kids, or if you yourself have slipped on your stairs and want some extra safety, these are absolutely worth it. They're way cheaper than installing carpet, they look decent, they work really well, and they're easy to put on. My only regret is not getting them sooner. Would've saved me months of stress watching my dog nearly eat it on the stairs every day.

These work great. Are easy to attach to the stairs; size is exact. Didn't take long to put them on the stairs and they make walking on the wooden stairs easier; definitely avoids slipping on the stairs if you're not paying attention. Also, they give you some sticky product to use if the back doesn't adhere well enough. I had no need for the sticky item.

We recently ripped up carpeted stairs and replaced with vinyl flooring.... to prevent from slips and add cushion to each step I ordered these stair treads. I'm very pleased with this purchase. The grip on each tread works perfectly with the vinyl. This not only added safety and comfort, but a nice look. The padding is nice and the tread design in the carpet is beautiful. Super easy to install... remove plastic cover and press to step.

Recently got rid of carpet and had our stairs refinished and we all kept almost slipping (especially in socks) because we weren’t used to the new slickness. These are great. They’re functional and stylish and provide some extra grip and cushion when using the stairs. Could not have been easier to apply/ install. My 13 year old son did them by himself. Also for anyone wondering they are not sticky at all (no adhesive), just grippy. Easy to pull up and reposition if necessary.

I’m very pleased with these carpet treads for my stairs. I got them so my Yorkie puppy wouldn’t slip on stair descent. He is doing really well with them. His descent is stable, no slipping. And they are giving me better traction too. They lay pretty flat. A couple of them have a negligible bit of rise in the center and at one of the corners. That’s because they are folded in half in the packaging, and I waited a few weeks before unpacking. I highly recommend unpacking and straightening them right away. Maybe put a heavy box or books on the middle so they flatten well. The product also comes with backing tape which would help with those gaps, but I haven’t felt like I needed that yet. The functionality is fine. The entire back is adhesive and it holds well. No slippage or movement whatsoever. I wiped the wooden stairs with a vinegar-water solution first and let it dry before applying the treads. They are simple to install. I asked a friend to help me and found it was an easier job with two people. One person could do it but two is much easier—one to place the tread, the other to pull the backing. I like the light color against my darker stairs. Helps my puppy see his paw placement better for his stair descent. The product is available in many different colors. They are comfortable to walk on. I can feel the padding under my feet. The price was great and they are serving the main purpose of safety for my puppy, and for me too. I’ll feel better when guests come by as well.

Ok...I have to give a review of these stair covers because of how great they work and how they solved our major issue. We have a sweet old dog who has become unable to navigate our hardwood stairs because she was slipping. I installed these and they work perfectly. Additionally, they are easy to remove and reposition. I made a small jig with wooden blocks to ensure these are centered. It made installing them a breeze and they look great. I am super happy and it actually makes navigating the stairs easier for the 2-legged members of our family! Great product!

Great product!! The treads fit our stairs perfectly. They were super easy to install and stuck to the stairs without issue. I was appreciative that in the box was also additional tape to apply if the stick wasn't enough. I did not have to use the additional tape but I am sure if I wash them a few times I will have to. They are soft to step on and making climbing the stairs a quieter experience for my dogs and the others in the house. I ordered the dark gray and am happy with the color choices.
