However my raw muscles couldn't do it and honestly all my attempts were useless and didn't go anywhere. Right tool for the job. Better than using a flat head screwdriver to get the spring off of the rubber front loader boot.

These make installing and removing the spring band much easier. However, when re-attaching, the ends of the band are loose, they are way too far away to catch. I ended up getting a coat hanger and using it to get the clip ends closer. Zip ties would not work as they were either to big, or too weak. Maybe nylon cord?

I have an LG washer that had two gasket rings. The first of which was easily handled by this tool. However, the second ring is built a little differently for some reason and would not stay in the grooves on tool fingers. I think the fingers on this are a little different than the name brand tool but I'm not sure if this is the reason for my difficulties. I was still able to use vice grips and get the ring off by it was a challenging.

While I was trying to clean the rubber seal of my front load LG washer (Model wm9000hva) the OUTER washer boot clamp popped off. I knew there was no way I would be able to pop it back with pliers. I found a video on YouTube where they fixed it using this spring expansion tool, so I decided to give it a go. With this tool it took less than 5 minutes to pop the clamp back on with no extra set of hands! The only con that I have is when removing the tool from the spring caused me quite a bit of difficulty. It’s also important to note that I cannot advocate for how easy it would be if you’re trying to fix an inner washer boot clamp.

This tool was recommended as purchased by others in a 3-item combination with a Kenmore Elite HE5t (Whirlpool) washing machine door boot (gasket/seal) and retaining ring spring clamp (X002K0UWVL, for W10902779). The tool seems sturdy and serviceable enough. However, this particular tool will not expand the spring of the “associated” clamp, even when the tool is opened to its maximum expansion. A different tool, with a wider jaw, is required. Be sure to confirm that the combination of items you are offered are actually compatible and fulfill your requirements.
