    • Nice safe, but has some minor issues
Size: 0.84 Cubic Feet
I like that this safe is heavy and is sturdy. I also like that it has a fireproof rating. The 0.84 cubic foot size is roomier than I expected. There are a couple of issues, which are mostly minor. The first issue is that the cover of the electronic panel comes off extremely easily: it’s designed so you just hold a tab on the bottom, then turn the cover to remove it to gain access to the manual key entry. While this does not automatically give you access to the safe, it does give you easy access to the electronics to be tampered with. I think the risk is low that this will actually happen, and even if someone does access it I doubt they might more likely attempt to pick the lock rather than mess with the electronics. And as I've heard law-enforcement individuals say - "locks only keep honest people honest." If someone wants to break into a home safe badly enough, they will find a way - regardless of the safe. This one does overall seem decently secure. The second issue is that the fingerprint sensor is picky and requires several retries to use. I have a lower-cost (but not fireproof) safe and the fingerprint sensor reacts quickly and accurately on that one. I tried a couple fingers each on myself and my partner on this safe, and it had trouble reading them on the first try. We even made sure the angle and area that we used to register the prints were the same (or as close as possible), and it still had trouble. It does work after a few tries, but still this issue is a little bit of an annoyance. Even still, I think that this safe is high quality because of it's fireproof rating. The third and final issue is even less of an annoyance, but worth mentioning. The door gets slightly stuck on the inner fabric when trying to open or close it. You can just tug or push on it and the door will still open/close. Overall, I think this safe is a good value considering the fireproof rating and roomy size. ... show more
