The media could not be loaded. It’s a good pump, but it could be better, heck, it could even be great with a few improvements to the functionality of the modes. The instructions are adequate but you must read and understand how each mode works as it’s not as straight forward as you might think. The “power” button isn’t functional in all modes, so you can’t adjust max power in some of the pulse/wave modes and that may be an issue with smaller tanks. Some modes are for single or multiple pumps some only multiple. I have the 20w 3400gph version in a 6 ft 150 reef and it reaches the other side easily, and creates a nice no dead spots flow pattern across the tank. The fast/slow knob tho leaves a LOT to be desired. The slowest pulse width you can get is less than a second on fast it’s a steady on/off/on/off and about useless. Fixing this feature to give at least a 5 second long pulse would give a lot more realistic wave action in the tank. This tank has been set up maturing for 5 years while fishless, it’s had a few soft corals and snails in the tank but it’s time to start moving the remainder of my corals and fish into it and I may add a second of this pump soon. Video included is of the overflow box on the opposite end of the tank farthest away from the pump, the only other flow at time of video was the return pump set at a very low setting so all action is this pump, I think it provides good flow, especially for the price. I have Tunze Turbells in my 180 gal reef for the last 20 years and the cost difference is dramatic between them, but the adjustability of the Tunze is far superior. If the knob to adjust pulse was fixed as I suggested above these would be real winners!!!

The sponge that protects critters wore out in a few weeks. Better off with 3d printed cage. I got one for a different model, but it worked for this one.

The media could not be loaded. just hooked it up, and the most pleased with the magnet for the other one that I was considering had a lot of bad reviews about the magnet being not strong enough for the unit. This guy is not going anywhere pretty simple lotta flow good price. I recommend now I’ve only used it for like 20 minutes so we’ll see how it acts with you. You know algae and all that other stuff salt water is hard on anything, so I’m very pleased. OK, I just want to say after a few days using it that that pre-filter thing they have like around the intake to the powerhead is pretty bad ass some of the cheaper ones you have to like pick pick at the housing itself this you could just like take that filter ring off, you know take it your sink, clean it off and put it back on the Head .which is definitely cool

The filter guard doesn’t work great and fish will get caught and torn up and die, the wave maker works great but not safe for fish because had 3 x3 inch pacu got stuck and were killed and one gold pike, if buy just find a better guard for the fish unless you have fish 6 inch or bigger you will be ok I had this in a 150 gallon tank and if had a better safe guard it will be a 5 stars If you have fish under 3 inches be aware

For the price they move a lot of water I have two on my 90 gallon tank set to 5 out of 20 and they move water from top of the tank to the bottom of the tank from edge to edge they are very powerful silent they feel quality bunch of different functions amazing for the price

Everything works as it should but I wasn't aware that a foam guard comes with it since it didn't come in the box. I will say if you use it and have smaller fish wait to use it until they get bigger. This has blended about 2 fish and an eel before I took it out and decided to wait till they are bigger.

I have had reef tanks for 15+ years. I put the 3400 on a 48 inch 60 gallon breeder build. I have a Nero 3 on one end of the tank (2000gph and 179$), and this on the other. This one on level 3 of 20 is still more powerful than the Nero by a good bit. The reason for 4 stars is it needs a way to be aimed, and the instructions don't match up 100% nor 100% clear. I managed to cut a small piece of PVC as a wedge to aim it. All in all hard to beat for the price.
