The media could not be loaded. Some of my favorite aspects of this version for 2025 are the large handles on the bottom of the device. The manageable size also provides ample space for the typical buttons and a large screen. The large handles offer an excellent grip, whether I use one or two hands. They’ve also incorporated a responsive touch screen. The large screen is easy to manipulate with my large fingers, and the display is bright. I don’t notice any lag in the software or video mix, which is impressive! The outside of the machine is made of strong plastics. The cable for the OBD and DIN connections has superb quality and an excellent functional length. The Wi-Fi is very fast. There’s a short video clip included to demonstrate the speed of updates from the Launch server to my home. You can also see the responsiveness of the scan tool software and video from the clip. At the time I recorded the clip, I was outside my home, downloading update files at lightning speed. Interestingly, the scanner doesn’t need to be plugged into anything for Wi-Fi updates to occur. Launch provides lifetime updates, which is another plus. I plan to put this machine in one of my vehicles that benefits the most from the feature set. I’m thinking the Chevy SS or a Cobra. I also have a basic Launch, which is slightly smaller than this newer model. This has led me to conclude that I want a Launch in each of my vehicles. The first version helped me find exterior corrosion on my radiator that wasn’t visible due to a condenser and other parts in the way. Since then, I’ve been hooked. I was also able to perform a throttle learning reset, and the car runs like it should, even though it’s a quarter-century old. Thus far, the Launch products have been very reliable. I’ve had one starting up in a 25-year-old car every day for about 4-5 months without any issues. The product is well worth the money and adds a lot of fun to monitoring my vehicles.

The oldest car I've used this on was a 2011 Mazda with the newest being a 2024 Chevy Corvette and it was able to connect and read codes without issue, check I/M readiness and monitor live data. This can reset codes and maintenance intervals but does not support "dealer tools" or what would generally be bidirectional functionality to run specific tests/calibrations. That said you can do real time data monitoring in addition to the standard OBDII code scans, and with the monitoring you can even graph data in real time which can be nice for more in-depth diagnosis. The screen was bright enough to view inside of a car on a sunny day and the touch screen is responsive and seems to be a glass screen so it should hold up well to use. When you connect it to a car the device will also charge itself so if you find yourself using something like this all day long that feature will keep the device charged. Getting updates was also easy, once connected to wifi the scanner automatically checked for updates and you can either apply them all or select individual makes if you just focus on a certain brand.

This is an initial review of the Launch CRP123I V2.0 Elite OBD2 scan tool. The kit includes a protective storage bag, which is a big plus — especially for safeguarding the functional touchscreen from the hazards of a busy toolbox. The rugged soft plastic case feels solid and should protect the unit from the occasional drop in the shop. It comes preloaded with diagnostic software covering a wide range of vehicles — even some brands I haven’t seen since being stationed in Europe. The generic OBDII app is great for quickly diagnosing general vehicle issues. The manufacturer-specific apps let you dig deeper into vehicle modules and access more detailed data. While working on a GMC, I wasn’t able to fully access the Transmission Control Module (TCM) — though to be fair, that might be a TCM issue, not a scanner limitation. I successfully used the ABS brake bleed application, and the touchscreen walked me through the process step by step — very user-friendly. The touchscreen is responsive, even when using nitrile gloves or a generic stylus. The unit's Wi-Fi connectivity holds a solid signal, even a fair distance from the network node. Updates are selectable by brand, so you only download what’s relevant to your work. There are additional brand-specific features available via subscription (around $3/month), but the tool itself doesn’t provide clear details on what’s included in that paywall — which is my one major gripe. Initial Impression: The Launch CRP123I V2.0 Elite scan tool appears to be a powerful diagnostic resource for home mechanics and weekend techs. I'm giving it four stars for now — mostly due to the lack of transparency on subscription-based features. I’ll update this review after more field use and once I’ve had time to explore the subscription content. Recommendation: Based on initial use and my positive history with other Launch products, I’d recommend this tool. Their customer support has always been timely and super helpful, which adds confidence in the long-term value of the product.

LAUNCH makes very reliable automotive scanning tools of various levels and pricing. This one is more on the lower end for LAUNCH but is still very good. You have all the basic resets and diagnostics you could want. The user interface is intuitive, easy to navigate, and it has a good processor so everything cycles through quickly. The unit itself is sturdy and designed for an automotive work environment. It stays updated so this unit should last you many years with just the infrequent task of updating, which is not something any scanner can avoid with new data and vehicles arriving frequently. It's a high quality product.
