UPDATE: Just days after installing this hose, the hose broke from the connection at the hose bib. I ordered a replacement, hoping this one will last. If not, I'll update my review. After using the heavy rubber hoses and the material hoses, I thought I'd try this one. So far, so good! The connections, without over tightening, were leakless on the first try. I'm more impressed though with the weight of this hose. I bought the 100' version and not only does it store like a 25' or 50' rubber hose but is probably lighter. I love the flexibility, without having to untangle it. I'm hoping what will be most impressive is its longevity/durability. I only just received it so I can't comment on that.

Drag this around the house to water plants and do cleaning outside the house. Has held up to all the pulling and stretching. Tangle free is so nice over the old hoses. Winds up smoothly. Not heavier than the old rubber hoses. Just pulls out and back smoothly. No stretching of rings or separation leaks as the old metal hoses used to do. Takes the corners without flattening and kinking cutting the water flow. Very pleased with this new hose.

Pros: It's very flexible and much easier to handle because it won't kink easily like rubber hose of the same length. Less bulky than rubber hose so it stores much easier too. Cons: Due to the narrow hose diameter, there is significant pressure loss at the nozzle end. The water stream isn't as powerful as rubber hose with a 3/4" or 5/8". diameter. Not saying the water just trickles out, but there is a definite and noticable difference in pressure which is fine for gardening. For washing bird droppings from cars it takes a little more time. All said, I like the flexibility and ease of use. The compactness of the coiled hose for storage is definitely a plus over my old rubber hose but I do miss the higher water pressure possible with larger diameter hoses. We've used this metal style for backyard use for a few years and it's stored dry during the winter months here in NY and has held up very well. The new one we just received is in constant sun for use in front of the house and will likely stand up better through the seasons than rubber hose will. The plastic nozzles that are included are on the shelf as spares since I prefer metal, heavier style nozzles but the extra washers will come in handy. That all being said, I like this hose. It's super long at 100', but stows in a much smaller space than rubber hose of the same length. It's flexible, sturdy, and aside from the pressure loss, I don't have any other issues with this purchase.

This metal hose restricted water flow to the point it would be laughable if I didn’t need it to deliver water to my plants. It’s a hundred foot hose. Immediately pressure was so low it took twice as long to get far less than half as much water on my plants, and by the time I was 45 feet away from the spigot it was barely more than a dribble that wouldn’t deliver a few droplets more than 3” away from the nozzle end if at all. This is a product fail. I could fill a watering can and save a significant amount of time over using this, and that’s not the purpose of owning a hose. Not an acceptable nor advertised amount of water pressure loss, bad tool, will return and get a different one before my plants die. God forbid you need it to help put out a fire..or get a sufficient amount of water to your plants..or run a sprinkler. Don’t waste your time and money.

The never-ending garden hose debacle continues. My husband and I have two differing opinions on our hose preferences. I like the shrinking super lightweight, almost so small they completely disappear hoses and my husband likes the overly sturdy, apocalypse surviving hoses that are so heavy you could barely use them. I get his point they last forever, but I can’t move them. I also get that the pocket hoses are almost disposable because they end up leaking after one season. I tried a short version of a metal hose and I was very delightfully surprised at the weight and the flexibility but being a metal hose it also has the durability that I think appeals to the hubby. I was so happy with it that I had to go and get a 50 foot version because turns out it’s the perfect combination of both. You won’t see any critters chewing through this metal casing and it’s certainly slinky and flexible enough that I can move around the yard with it. So I’m happy to recommend this 50 foot marital compromise.
