I would guess most users of this product are artists or illustrators, so when I was researching these drawing monitors it was difficult to find any reviews that mentioned its use for doing cartographic and GIS work. I am a GIS analyst and cartographer so this review will be based on my experience using the product primarily for digitizing map information in Esri's ArcMap. I have not used the monitor to do much artistic drawing (I only tested it out in Adobe Illustrator to see how it responded). Overall, the experience has been excellent. I bought the 2021 version of the KAMVAS 16 after reading the reviews of the older version and the PRO 16 and deciding that despite the fact that the product was very new and had no reviews yet, I would go for it based on the updated design and positive reviews of the previous and sister products. The monitor arrived in a very nice package, well protected and everything neatly in its place in the box. I opened it, followed the setup instructions, and had the monitor connected to my laptop and the driver installed in about 15 minutes. One note on connectivity: make sure you have an open HDMI port or know what kind of adapter you'll need to make it work on your computer or laptop if you aren't using the USB-C connector. For my setup I purchased an HDMI/DisplayPort adapter since my laptop and work PC both use the DP output only. Previous reviews of other Huion monitors mentioned problems with the drivers. I had no problems whatsoever installing the drivers on Windows 10 64-bit on an older Lenovo ThinkPad T420 (Intel HD 3000 graphics) as well as a nearly new HP desktop I use at work. Both machines recognized and allowed me to connect and use the KAMVAS 16 as a monitor and the pen as an input device. You might need to go into the Windows 10 settings for pen input and check the box to allow the pen to function as a pointing device (mouse), so keep that in mind if the pen doesn't work right away for pointing. Using the monitor is really nice. The screen is clear and the surface is great to draw on. The glass is relatively thin and the pen seems to be right on the image I'm digitizing from, so very little trouble with accuracy. I definitely use the included glove to keep my hand from smudging up the screen. The pen comes with lots of tips stored in the included holder (very handy), although I don't know how much you have to use the pen to wear the tip out. I've used the monitor for drawing for an estimated 40 hours, and the pen tip is as responsive and works as well as it did out of the box. The screen is still nice and clear, no scratches. I use the included stand and it serves my purposes just fine. One of the best parts of this monitor are the customizable shortcut buttons on the side. While they are a bit cumbersome/time consuming to set up in the driver software, they are customizable for each app you use the monitor with which is a great feature. The monitor driver(?) also recognizes which app you are using and the buttons change function accordingly. Some folks complained that the buttons don't light up, but I don't work in the dark and honestly once I get used to the buttons' functions I operate them without really looking at them. Overall, and for the price(!!), this is a great product! No hesitations in recommending it for the type of work I do. I will update this review if anything changes as far at the product longevity, but functionally I am very pleased. Overall: Product is very well built. Setting up / installing drivers on Mac and PC was easy. Would recommend to hobbyists and professionals. Setting up: There are more controls on the PC drivers to adjust brightness/contrast/colors at the software level, which was missing in the Mac side. Aside from that the USB-C to USB-C cable worked flawlessly on the 2019 MacBook Pro (intel based - 2.4Ghz i9) haven’t tested that on PC. On the PC side 3-in-1(HDMI + 2 USB) cable worked flawlessly as expected. Screen quality: Really happy with the display. No issues with brightness and color. Pixel density looks great on the 16 inch display. Looks fantastic for the price you pay! Stylus: No initial activation issues as reported in earlier models. Overall, it’s light (maybe too light when compared with Wacom stylus) and well built. Tip feels great when drawing, it’s firm. There is very very slight wobbling when drawing diagonal lines slowly in photoshop, but turning on smoothness solves it. Cons: My only negative feedback is the screen protector... despite watching all the youtube videos regarding how to peel off the screen protector properly. I still ended up peeling off the packaging “mask film” and the screen protector. As a result, dust particles got trapped under the screen display. Please be very very careful when peeling off the packaging “mask film” the moment when you peel and see a very reflective surface underneath, you are doing it wrong. I wish they packaged it in way to minimize user error. Also, the screen protector wasn’t applied correctly, and resulted a slight offset in one of the corners. ... show more

First, let me say this is an excellent pen display. I’m a traditional artist who works in traditional media but decided to make the move to digital paint to add to my tool box…No rules just tools” as Glenn Vilppu would say. That be said there is a big “BUTT” with this display if you are a Mac user. After I set up the display and installed the driver it worked fine, however, every time my computer went into sleep mode the Huion would disconnect. I did everything Customer Support suggested to No avail. The only way I could get this display to reconnect was to restart the computer. A BIG hassle! I was about to return it and purchase another brand until finding out this happens to several pen display brands including Wacom. SOLUTION: The solution was simple: 

1) I turned off the sleep mode in System Preferences’ “Energy Saver”.

 2) I unplugged the power cord to the Huion. It does not need the power cord if you are using a USB-C to USB-C cable to connect to a Mac. After doing those 2 things everything has been fine. First, try not using the power cord, if it still disconnects then turn off the sleep mode. ... show more

I love this tablet the screen is not very clear upclose because it's not in a high resolution but if you can afford the higher res because it's important to you than get that but it's not then you'll be fine with this. The pen is responsive and I love the shortcut keys great for the price too. I would definitely recommend this company and tablet to anyone who is either just starting out or is a pro like me. ... show more
