If it's a cloudy day as it often is in winter, it barely lights. So apparently there's not enough battery storage if it's sunny on one day and cloudy the next if it's on all night. If it came with a remote, we didn't get one. Since it's on a light sensor, you need to select which light function you want when it's dark or cover the sensor. I had to do this on a ladder as I hung it during the day and couldn't tell if it was on or not. Since it was back-ordered and I didn't realize my husband ordered them, I didn't really pay attention to the packaging when it arrived so remote? Directions? We have the battery operated one in the house and it works fine although on of the TV remotes turns it on. The cord isn't very long so if you want to hang it from the ceiling, you need to find a place for the transformer to be mounted if you want it to be discreet. The wires are very delicate so if you want them to stay straight, take your time spreading them out. Otherwise, they are a nice warmer light (not candle-warm but not bright white). For the price, they're fine. Everything is pretty disposable these days so you're luck if you get two years out of something anyway.

I didn't realize that different models were available. I placed my order and received two lights with square battery packs that lay on a flat surface. When I suspended the lights, they turned off. After writing about my experience, the seller offered to send out two new lights for FREE. They also have battery packs, but they're cylindrical and designed to be suspended because they have hooks. The first set came with batteries installed. The second set didn't, but luckily I had 8 AA batteries on hand. The two remote controls with the new lights have batteries installed, and you just have to pull out the protective tabs for operation. I'm still trying to figure out which remote goes to which light, but thankfully I can press a switch on each battery packs to turn the lights on/off and change the mode. There are several modes to choose from, and the overall effect is very pretty. I'm glad I have them on Christmas and now I can decide how to use them on New Year's Eve. They're sparkly and festive for almost any holiday.

The only reason for the 3 is that they are cute WHEN THEY ARE WORKING. The string to the tiny solar panel is extremely short-you cannot put the stake in the ground for charging and hang the light any higher than 4'. So, I had to tie the solar panels to tree branches (all the leaves are off thank goodness). I live in sunny Charleston South Carolina, so the panels get full sun for 8 hours straight (and it is Winter time) and the lights only stay on for about 4 hours. Again-no leaves on the trees are blocking the sun.

These lights arrived late in the afternoon and only had the late sun to charge. After only two hours, they lit up while suspended from the pergola. They are beautiful!! Iโm very pleased with their ability to hold the shape I formed and they maintain brightness through the night. They give off enough light for a soft glow in an enclosed area. Itโs plenty for us to be able to see. I highly recommend these lights and plan to order two more. Update: After only a week, the lights began to dim after less then 2 hours then turn off. They look stunning while on but Iโm very disappointed that they have started to die so quickly. The solar panel is in the direct sun all day so I donโt know why they both arenโt working well so soon after purchase.

What to know about this product that I wish I knew before it arrived: there are two options for power source, 1 is battery, the other is solar. I ordered the solar option. When they arrived I didn't even open the box as it had no mention of solar on the packaging - it said it needed batteries and the box is pretty small, didn't even imagine there would be room for a solar option. I sent it back. The seller was amazing. Great follow up and wanting to make sure I got what I wanted. The second package came and I thought, what the heck?! They sent me the exact same thing - needs batteries, no mention of solar on the box. But I thought this time, I'll look inside the package. There was the solar panel! They REALLY need to mention the solar option on the box! They work great, really pretty in my yard. I wish the cord from the solar panel to the actual light was longer. I would love to have these way up in my trees.

the solar charger is also the on off switch. neither of these functions worked. spent alot of time sorting the wires into a ball shape only to find that it does not turn on or charge.

These are cute solar powered lights. Charge them in the sun all day & they'll light up when it gets dark. I haven't timed them, yet, to see how long they stay lit on a full charge. I'll update when I do. When all the wires are stretched in all directions to make it "spherical," each of them is a nice size... bigger than a basketball... maybe close to a kickball or a not-so-big beach ball. The light it gives off is a pleasant, warm white... not super bright, but, not too dim. You wouldn't be able to read a book by its light... but, hang a few around for some ambiance. It came in a two-pack, but, I wish it came with 3... just for aesthetics. They're a bit expensive for what they are. I mean, they don't "feel" like they're worth the price, but, I'm not unhappy with them. I don't know that I'd buy them again.... Maybe.

UPDATE: So the solar pods have to be in complete sun for these to work. So pretty much they havent been on for 2 days even though they do get a ton of sun. bummer. These are so gorgeous. The tiny LED strings make them seriously sparkle like crazy. I bought both the battery and solar. They are pretty much the same in brightness. The battery ones are easy but do use 4 batteries. The Solar are great and charge easily and quickly but they have no way to hang them up! There is only a stake for the solar box, no clip, no hook so I had to use zipties. Still a great purchase for what you get.
