If possible, I'd give this 4.5 stars Although this bike rack had 100% 5 star when I purchased it, there were few written reviews, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. At this point, it was a great purchase! PRO's: Even the packaging deserves commendations: it came in a sealed, factory-direct Crindar box, all the pieces were protected with cardboard or bubble wrap, and the contents didn't move about. The bike rack is very well-made and -designed. It's heavier than most in this class as others reviewers said, although the weight is noted in the description... it's alloy steel after all. It definitely has the claimed 160 lb. weight capacity. Once mounted on a vehicle, it is easy to use, fold and tilt. The keyed locks on the receiver hitch and the bike brackets work well (I wish there was one key, not two, for both). There are flat washers, locking washers, bushings, pins, bolts and nuts where they're needed. Every single piece is exactly included - no extras and none missing. The bike brackets are nicely padded to protect bikes. The gray color is a metallic paint look. The assembly instructions come in an 8.5"x11" booklet with sequenced, seven-step assembly process. Most of instructions are graphic but there is some English verbiage. The small hardware for every step is packaged in a plastic bag imprinted with the step #. All the tools need are included, except for a phillips head screwdriver. CON'S: (reasons for the .5 star off rating) Although instruction manual is clearly printed, each the image for each step includes the entire rack. As such, it is difficult to see the position & placement of the small hardware pieces. It took quite a while to figure out some - I often had to look ahead and make educated guesses. In another case, after the attachment of a piece in one step, a following step gave instructions about the correct placement of that piece in a side note: I had to remove that piece to reposition it and reattach it. NOTES: Assembly is best done with two people. I had to do it alone. I did not follow step 1 because it said to mount the rack's hitch bar into the auto receiver and I needed to assemble it indoors at night. Considering this and the dilemmas noted above, total assembly took about 4.5 hours. Using a ratchet wrench will make assembly go a little easier and faster.

This carrier works well with my 70 pound fat tire e-bike. I carried my bike on a 1,100 mile round trip without any issues. The carrier flexes a little more than I like. I used a hitch clamp to help stabilize it. I don’t have much trust in the lock pin provided but the fact that it screws in to the carrier hitch arm comforts me. Even if the lock would fall off, i think the carrier would stay attached. I purchased a better locking pin but couldn’t use it because the threads on the hitch insert makes it a smaller diameter. One bolt supplied is too short when all of the washers indicated are used. Same problem with the locking pin provided. I had to leave washers off. The instructions weren’t as clear as i would have liked in a couple of places. I like the way it can be dropped down to access the tail gate and folds up when the bike is removed. This carrier is a good bargain.

This item is as advertised. It was well packaged and arrived without damage. After opening and organizing the parts, it took me 45 min to completely assemble. Each step included a numbered bag of hardware for that step. I’ve used it once so far on a 400 mile trip. Once adjusted to fit our bikes, it is very secure. So far I’ve only used this rack for standard bikes but plan to use for e-bikes in the future.

Took about an hour to put it together. Worked great for my mountain bike, made it work for a step through bike, but a cross bar is best. Comes with Velcro and a long strap tp help hold the bikes in place. Hatch of my Subaru outback will open with this on and bikes mounted which is handy.
