I bought these during one of the most intense periods of my life — I was postpartum and dealing with engorgement and my husband had just come home from brain surgery. We were going through ice packs constantly from two completely different directions and having a 50 pack meant we never ran out which was one less thing to think about during an already overwhelming time. For postpartum breast relief these were incredible — quick, easy, no freezer required, just squeeze and activate and you have instant relief when you need it most. For my husband's recovery we used them for swelling and post-surgical discomfort and they delivered the same way. Size is good — big enough to actually cover the area you need without being unwieldy. They're not the softest thing against skin so I'd recommend wrapping them in a thin cloth but they get cold fast and stay cold long enough to be genuinely useful. Flexibility is decent right after activation which makes them easier to position where you need them. Warmth obviously isn't the point here but the cold intensity is just right — not so harsh it's uncomfortable, effective enough that you actually feel relief. For the quantity and the price the value is unbeatable. These got our whole household through a really hard stretch and I will always keep a box of these on hand.

I was having a lot of pain in the top of my foot. The doctor said it was extensor tendonitis, inflammation of the tendons from the toes across the top of the foot, caused by wearing shoes with no arch support. She gave me two ice packs similar to these to use on my foot. I loved them so decided to buy some. This product is what I chose and I am very pleased with it! They are smaller than the ones I got from the doctor but honestly they fit better on my upper foot as a result. They are very simple to use - follow the instructions, which are basically to fold it in half and press down to pop the packet inside so the chemicals mix and turn very cold. I was afraid the packet might burst if I pushed too hard but I've used several and I haven't even seen the side seams strain so they're pretty durable. After popping and shaking, the ice pack is cold enough to truly chill the injured site. I didn't always wrap the pack in a cloth as it says to, and it wasn't a problem. The pack stays cold for about 15-20 minutes at least, which is the amount of time you are supposed to leave ice on a site in one go. The ice pack treatment definitely helped the pain in my foot and reduced the inflammation. Once the cold is released, the packet is flexible so if your injured site is not flat, it will wrap around it easily. An elastic bandage works well to keep the packet firmly on the desired area. The packet itself did not feel uncomfortable in fit or temperature. I also carried several to my workplace in my purse, which is pretty full, and the packets traveled fine without being discharged. I will be including some of these in my first aid kits in my car, home, and office. And bonus! Because there's no actual ice there's no condensation or leaking from a pinhole as the ice melts, meaning nothing gets wet and messy. Overall, a quality product that works as described.

Pros: I bought guys for keeping in my car first aid kit. I have some long term ankle injuries, and once in awhile I tweak it while out and about. They certainly don't replace the larger freezer ice packs that can wrap around your injury, but they do a good job in a pinch when away from home. I also have had no issue with leaking, however I've kept mine with little dollar tree plastic baggies and a small throw away wash cloth just in case. Stays cold for about twenty minutes, which I find long enough to get home and grab a normal re-usable freezer one, or while I wait after put one in the freezer. Another pro is that it's actually not so cold to the touch that I need a cloth between my skin and the cold pack. Normally I would want very very cold, but it ends up being nice with limited supplies. Cons: I've had a really hard time actually activating the ice pack. The instructions say to fold the pack in half and burst the liquid packet inside however there is so much air in ice pack there's so way that can happen. I've had to locate the internal water packet, situate it in the middle of the outer bag, and strategically punch down on a hard surface to break it. Once you do break it, the cold is instant though. It could also be a con that the packet doesn't get as cold as a reusable freezer pack does depending on your needs. Overall good for an emergency situation but you'd want to get yourself better positioned to care for an injury if you can.

These are handy little "instant ice" packs. You have to have some determination to get the interior bag to burst, but on the other hand, you can toss them in a safety kit without worrying about inadvertent activation. I wouldn't call them fragile. After breaking the internal water bag, the chemical reaction is immediate. Ahhh, instant cold. But you better be ready to use them, cooling lasts for ...say....20 minutes, then it goes into a slow warm-up phase. So make sure you're sitting where you can apply them quickly. They come with the required warnings about wrapping them in cloth to protect the skin - Nah, don't bother, they don't get frostbite cold. Because they are not "freezer" ice bags, they do not develop the coating of frost that makes others hard to keep in position. Far less slide-y. I like these little portable ice bags and do recommend.

PRO: Arrived fast, FSA Qualified (meaning you can use your medical/health insurance to purchase this item) CONS: Very difficult to pop the inner tube to make the ice pack "COLD" Sharp plastic edges, not the soft, “malleable” plastic pouch ice pack Smaller than most medical-grade ice packs; therefore, you will not get as much ice relief because the CHILL of the pack doesn't last very long. CONCLUSION: I give this product a 3-STAR RATING due to it being very difficult to activate the inner chemicals that make the product COLD. Additionally, the ice pack is smaller when compared to others in that category. It may be smaller than the website description. PLEASE SEE THE INCLUDED PHOTOS FOR COMPARISON. (REF: Side-by-side and sitting on top of the larger ice pack by another company. Keep in mind, due to the smaller size, it will take MORE of them to cool a wound or swelling, inflammation, or pain. It would also be great if the sharp edges were "rounded off". Hope this info helps with the decision to purchase this particular ice pack. By the way, BOTH brands (in photographs) were purchased from Amazon. ;-D

This is perfect. However, they do not stay cold very long. I am a parent to two soccer players. Sometimes we have traveled for tournaments and there were either no ice packs or they were not accessible. This is perfect to travel with or even just to have around the house in the event of a minor accident. Worth the price and value.
