I bought this to seal up the cook chamber and firebox on my Oklahoma Joe's Bandera smoker. Followed directions, and it was fairly easy to install. I've used it on several smokes since the installation, and the smoke chamber is still holding up and works great. No leaks, which helps with air draw and temperature consistency, two very important attributes of a smoker. The Lava Lock on the fire chamber has come off in several places, but I am not surprised really. It gets extremely hot there when I'm building my fire, and the adhesive can only take so much. Works well. The hardest part of the installation is the cleaning of the surface on the grill. The adhesive sticks very well if the surface is clean.

This is a must if you have a smoker. Easy to install. Works perfectly. I have a traeger and from factory the door doesn't have any type of seal just metal to metal contact and wind goes through and the temperature fluctuates alot and you also loss a lot of the smoke through the door. After I installed the seal smoke only comes out the chimney and the gear drop area. Temp stays very consistent now so your also using less wood pellets as well! Highly recommend! ... show more

Fits perfectly on my Z Grill pellet grill, which never sealed well. Just cut to size. I followed installation instructions and cleaned the edge very well with degreaser, then followed up with rubbing alcohol to prep the surface. I lined the door and the grill with the tape and let it sit overnight before running the smoker. The tape didn’t seem to stick well when I installed but after overnight it seemed secure. There is still one minor gap along one side of the door, but the rest of the door seals up perfectly (more of a grill design problem though). I noticed when I fired up the smoker for my thanksgiving turkey, the smoke comes out of the chimney (and grease hole) now instead of all over the place. But the biggest difference is temp control. I’m honestly shocked. I used to notice swings of +/- 25 degrees of my actual set temperature. With the LavaLock tape, it narrowed it down to +/- 5 degrees of my set temperature - when I set it at both 275 and 350. I expected a difference but nothing like this. I applied this to the lid of the cook chamber and the firebox of my Old Country Brazos DLX offset smoker. After a day with the lids sitting closed, the gasket material compressed enough to allow both lids to close up 100%. I applied when the grill was new after wiping down the area where it was to be applied with a few alcohol pads then running a blue torch around the lids slowly to assure all moisture was evaporated. I think the slightly warm metal helped the adhesive stick better. (It was a chilly 45 degree day when I applied the gasket material.). I allowed the lids to sit closed for about 16 hours before I fired the smoker up for it's initial burn off. I've got about 100 hours of use on the smoker and there is zero indication of she l any adhesive failure or damage to the gasket, even on the firebox lid. There is absolutely zero smoke escaping from either chamber. I couldn't be happier. ... show more

I have installed this on my smoker I had a problem with my Firebox door I don't know if it's something I did or the product I follow the instructions to the T but after seasoning my smoker I opened the door and it's like the soft side stuck to the door so when I opened the material some reason it kind of like glued itself to the door ... show more
