The bolt that holds the strap bent the strap was then coming undone at the bolt the stitching was ripping. The gear has already bent a tooth and can hardly move either way without having to beat it. Oh and did i mention it was on the first time i used it and it was a sea doo no less.

Handle bolt stripped out while installing nut. Metal not of good quality in my opinion. Again thats just my opinion as others may have had no problem with their purchase.

When I first opened it up, just looking at it you think this is the toughest hand winch ever. Everything looks overbuilt and the mechanism looks familiar and solid. Installed it for my pontoon boat (original Fulton brand name winch rated at 1600 Lbs.), slight modification for the bolt holes (no problem) then tightening down the lever on the main crank using normal force and I striped the threads (first warning sign there). Oh well attached it to the other crank since everything was installed and attached tightly to the trailer. Worked great getting the boat in the water, getting the boat out caused the internals to give up at bearing points on the housing, causing the gears to have enough clearance to not have contact with each other so now its completely free rotating and useless. Had to bust out the tools to just get the gears to contact so I could get home. At home took a closer look and every pully had huge wiggle room. Returned it immediately so as they say - true here. Don't waste your time on this and the many others that look like this on Amazon, all from the same maker in China.

Winch arrived in the time frame promised by Amazon. Installed the winch on my boat trailer and tried to tighten up the strap so it wasn't hanging lose. Was unable to tighten. Unrolled the strap and it is broken at the winch connecting side. Can't recommend this product unfortunate. Will be returned and something better purchased. Edit* Amazon was great as usual and sent me a replacement unit. Strap wasn't broke. Used it this weekend and the bolt that holds the strap bent to the point of breaking and the teeth on the gears started snapping at the tips. Save your money and buy something much better quality. This is very cheaply made. Using for maybe a 800lb jon boat.

Installed this winch on a 400 pound Jon boat with a 20 hp motor. Loaded gross is 900#. Heavy duty gears. I can attest this is false. The Metal on this product is so inferior that one of the ratchet teeth rolled over and up against the next tooth. Extremely soft, malleable steel, if it is really steel at all. It didn’t last six boat launches before it failed. Some products are inexpensive and some products are cheap. This one is definitely cheap!

Bolt on to the trailer easy went to hook it up to the boat cranked down and the gears just gave up my fault I should have looked at the reviews thanks everyone went to the local Napa dealer got it switched out
