Each unit features Series Wound motors which are extremely efficient at higher speeds and less prone to overheating compared to Permanent Magnet motors. Better still, Rough Country Recovery Systems utilize a 3-stage planetary gear train boasting a 265:1 gear ratio; allowing enormous torque in such a small housing. All Rough Country PRO winch systems include a replaceable Clevis hook for convenience. Rough Country Winch Cradle Hitch Mount | 2" Receiver Hitch - RS109 Black Featuring a 1/4" plate steel cradle and a standard winch mount bolt pattern, this universal winch plate allows for up to a 12,000lb winch from most manufacturers and fits any standard receiver hitch with a 5/8" pin. Unlike many receiver plates, this kit features a fully welded center bracket instead of a cheaper bolt-on plate, and is designed with 1" OD solid handle bars and powder coated hammertone black for year after year durability. I was shopping for a winch for my Wrangler. I narrowed it down between this one and a different brand that was 9500lb. They were the same price so I went with this model because it's 12,000lbs. I have other Rough Country products and have never been disappointed. This is a quality winch. Install was easy and it's more than powerful enough for my needs. There are other models out there that cost a ton more but this was the perfect balance between cost and efficiency for me. Only negative is it doesn't come with a wireless remote. Not a huge deal for me as I've been just fine without one over the years. In many applications, you're better off removing the bumper and installing this on the bumper and reinstalling them as a unit. I recommended this winch 100% ... show more

Install was pretty easy. It took me about 2 hours on an 09 F-150 including the hidden mount. The winch works great on everything I've used it for so far. Moved fallen trees without a problem and has kept myself and some friends from being stranded on the trails. My only complaint is the lack of a wireless controller option. I have tried a few "universal" controllers without success. The lack of the wireless isn't affecting my overall review. This is a very good winch and priced right. R/C time for that wireless control. I thought I would get an affordable option with a TYT 13,000 lb winch, and nearly caught my truck on fire due to a manufacturer error internally on their power box… I finally spent the extra $100 on the rough country and absolutely love it. It’s so easy to install, instructions are very clear, and this thing pulls like a beast. Thankfully to have spent the extra money on a well known and reputable brand as RC is. After smoking another brand just winching up the cable, I broke down and purchased this one. Everything about the winch itself is great but the cover was a disappointment (cover not included, purchased name brand separately). After only 2 uses, the elastic band needed to keep it in place broke and is no longer functioning. Thank goodness for bungie cords, but that was not what I pd for.....the winch, however, has been tested and works well. ... show more
