I was so excited to use this heat press. Upon first use the machine was sparking and was unable to maintain temperature control. Ruined a shirt. Turned it off and tried again a different day. Worked fine. Next time back to sparking. I noticed a small defect in the large heat plate, a small circular hole in the black coating that butts up again where the heat plate attches to the arm. That is where the sparking comes from so I suspected the heat plate needs to be replaced so it will stop sparking and stop messing up the temperature control. Contacted Zeny and they say they cannot send me a replacement heat plate. They offered to send me a new temp control box (doubt that will help at all, especially with the sparking) and $20. Alternately they said that I could ship the (very heavy) product back to them in California for a refund. Apparently I have to pay for the shipping for their manufacturing defect. Still not sure why they can't send me a new heatplate. Otherwise, on the time it worked, it was a easy to use product and had great results with my project. I'm very disappointed that I am having these problems with the manufacturer. I will update if there are any further developments. UPDATE: After my original review, Zeny did offer to cover the shipping for me. Prior to me being able to get it shipped back out, they contacted me again and offered me a full refund without having to ship it back which I was very satisfies because honestly I did not keep the original box and was worried about finding a box sturdy enough to transport it since it is very heavy. They are also working with me to figure out why it was sparking. I honestly feel that it was a small manufacturing defect or human error as it is a very small exposed point on the large plate (maybe someone moved put their screwdriver in the wrong spot and hit the plate instead of the screw). I am satisfied with their effort to try and resolve the issue even if it did take myself being a little bit of a squeaky wheel. Hopefully this review gives you some confidence in making a decision in your purchase of a heat press. I researched a ton on blogs and web sites. I had a lot of questions about clamshell vs. swing away and also the size of the plate/press. My research seemed to indicate that in terms of functionality, the machines are more or less similar, so it comes down to the size of the press, the attachments you might use, and the clamshell vs. swing-away factor. I had initially wanted a 16x20 inch plate press, but when I drew out a 12x15 inch area, I realized that the vast majority of things I make fit within this area, and that this machine was a good model to purchase because it can handle all of what I do now and also give me some room to grow with the attachments. So far, I am happy with my purchase. Below, I've listed some pros, cons, and unknowns about my experience with this machine. Happy reading. Pros: --This machine is sturdy and made of mostly metal parts. --For the money, the plate/press size of 12x15 is a good value. --The machine heats up quickly and seems to work well. --The machine was well-packaged and arrived very quickly. Cons: --The manual is poorly translated from Chinese, so there are a lot of mistranslations and/or sentences that make little or no sense. It can be difficult to discern the gist/overall message. We're hoping we can just keep our fingers crossed that we're not missing any crucial info and that the machine will continue to operate without problems. --The timer function was tricky to figure out (for me, at least). The manual was of little help, but it just took some playing around and guesswork and we got it sorted out. --It doesn't smell great when in operation, but from what I've read, that dissipates over time. Unknowns: --I have only used this on cotton or cotton-blend apparel so far; I'm not sure how it works on extra thick fabrics (sweats, etc.) or performance fabrics (such as nylon/poly, etc.), nor do I have any idea of the performance with the mug and plate attachments. I will try to update this review with any notable results if and when we experiment with new materials and attachments. --I have not tried to use this with sublimation inks, only with vinyls, in case that factors into your purchasing decision. ... show more

    • Works well. Good price point for an introductory heat press and hobby crafter.

So far, so good? This has worked quite well for our hobby craft business. We purchased a infrared thermometer and discovered the temperature isn't as high as stated but it wasn't enough of a deal breaker to pack it up and return it. We just put the temperature higher and regularly check the actual temperature with the thermometer. I LOVE the swing-away design! I feel less likely to burn myself. I also like that the bottom platen slides forward giving you more room to place your garments. We've only tried one mug press and we've had good results with that and put HTV on a stainless steel tumbler even though it's intended for sublimation. Haven't tried the plate or cap press yet. Some people have complained that the handle is flimsy. We haven't had any issues yet. The pressure is easy to adjust and we've had no issues with manipulating settings like temperature and time. Ours also came with an instruction manual that did have these details. As far as size, I find the 12"x15" to be a great size. Not overly big to require an excessive amount of storage space, but large enough to apply most decals in a single press. ... show more

I love my heat press it does it's job well, and very easy to use. I know I read several comments of the press breaking. In which mine did. I am sure that it was my error as I was trying to press something with lots of pressure. I contacted the Zenny Us company asking if I could purchase a replacement part because i truly love my press. I was very upset that I broke it. With a couple of emails and pictures of broken piece, and order number. I was super excited when they sent me the replacement piece free of charge.
