  • Such a time saver!
Update #2: I'm now at 4+ years of daily use with this heat press and a weld finally let go. It still works, but jerks very strongly when opened. I'm at well over 100,000 presses and this thing has worked like an absolute champ. When it's time to replace it (probably soon), I'll be buying the exact same one. I had to replace a table that it completely destroyed, but I put a non-slip pad (meant for a sewing machine) under it to protect the table and it's worked great! Update: This heat press is going strong after nearly a year of every day use and 20,000+ shirts pressed. The dial for adjusting the pressure has started "slipping" and adjusting itself (usually up) over time, but it's easy enough to change back. It still heats up quickly and consistently and holds the temperature. It's completely destroyed the table it sits on, but it's easily the best investment I've made in my business, so I'll live with that! I make t-shirt blankets and each shirt needs interfacing. For 15+ years, I've ironed the interfacing, taking 2+ minutes per shirt. With this heat press, the same job takes 12 seconds and the results are so much more consistent. I was intimidated when I took the press out of the box, but I did some research on time and temperature and was up and running in less than 10 minutes. Having this heat press has sped up my business turn-around time and increased the quality of my product. The only tiny negative is that it's heavy (~45lbs) and very awkward to move, and if it slides during use, it scratches the surface it's sitting on. ... show more

  • great article, chaotic delivery
I've only been using it for a few days, but so far everything is going well. The only thing is that I had problems with my delivery and the box arrived broken and messed up. But as for the machine, it works perfectly and seems practical to me.

  • Easy and Efficient!
I have been reading reviews and watching videos about heat presses for months before I decided on this one. First of all, I'm a crafter, not a business. I make things for family and friends and when I charge it's usually for materials only. So that being said, I also want to say in the picture you will see my very first project with htv vinyl AND a heat press. I've never done an iron on/htv vinyl project nor have I used a heat press before now. This heat press was SO easy! Settings were extremely easy and my project on a canvas bag turned out awesome. All you basically have to do is turn it on, set the heat to desired number, set the timer to desired number, put your bag or shirt or whatever on the pad, push the handle down and when it's done it will beep. Release the handle, let the fabric cool for a minute and then peel off the layer of plastic and your transfer is there! I also used the parchment paper that came with the press to place over the bag. I've seen people use this without it in videos, but I chose to use it since it came with the press. Overall this is a great little machine. Doesn't come with a lot of instructions, google will be your friend when it comes to setting temperature and timer depending on fabric and type of vinyl. ALSO there's a flyer in the box with Fancierstudio Facebook page. They have videos that I watched before I attempted to use this heat press, plus they have troubleshooting videos with easy fixes. I'm completely satisfied with this purchase! ... show more

  • Works Flawlessly, but Consider a Swing-Away Model
I've made about 8 tees with this so far and they've worked out fine. I might have gone with a multi-press that does mugs and caps, but decided to put my money into this larger (15" square), beefier format. If you're only using 8-1/2x11" transfers, you don't need the 15" version. Swing-Away vs. Non Swing-Away I read a lot of reviews before my purchase, but never saw any discussion of the swing-away feature of many other models. Here's what I wish I'd known: With the transfers for dark fabrics, you peel off the backing and lay the transfer face-up on the tee-shirt. The heat of the platen just inches above the transfer immediately causes it to start curling up at the edges. It's not a huge problem, but a bit tricky to keep it flat while laying down the silicone or tissue on top of it prior to pressing. The swing-away models would solve that by not having the heat source above the shirt until you're ready to press. [UPDATE: I created a heat insulator by sandwiching some thin bubblewrap between two large pieces of double-wall corrugated cardboard from some cartons. See illustration. By hanging this under the heat plate, I can shield the tee-shirt from the heat until the transfer is in place, the tissue or silicone sheet is laid over the transfer, and I'm ready to press. This has worked just fine and is a low-tech solution to having your transfers begin to curl up before you can press it.] A SECOND BUT MINOR CONCERN is that this 50+ pound device has no feet, just vertical sheet-metal sides. They're not sharp, but I would worry about it scratching a nice table. So you'll want to lay something down on the table, or (as I did) create some feet for the press. For what they charge, the manufacturer really should include rubber feet for this device. LASTLY: I recommend doing lots of research about pressing temperatures and times. Online literature is kind of all over the map about that, and the weight, color, and type of fabric should be considered when deciding how hot and for how long to press. I overpressed one shirt and it scorched the transfer slightly but did not ruin it—just turned it from black to dark brown. All in all, this is a well-functioning, easy-to-use machine. Have fun! ... show more
