This does!! The calf muscles are actually pumps to return lymph/blood to the heart, and must have gentle motion to tone them without inflammation. I bought this for my mum who is 94. I hoped she could use this to help with her circulation which had decreased slightly over the past month due to a problem with her foot (a callous) After 5 uses a caregiver checked as to why it had started to make a loud noise. One of the rods holding the foot platform actually broke. Thankfully the packaging was easy to reboot it and return it.

I looks great. Appears to be built well. Works smoothly. Then on the third use, nuts that hold the pedals on came off and, well, that was the end of that. I tried tightening the NUTS. It worked for about 3 minutes. No way to keep the nuts from unscrewing??? Really? I'm going to try some 'LokTite" on the spindle and tighten the nuts one more time. If that doesn't keep the nuts on, then it will become my boat anchor. And for the person that said they couldn't find a way to turn it off without unplugging it............Hit the OFF button on the Remote.
