  • Very Good Choice
This is the second air fryer I have purchased, and am very happy with my decision. I decided on this one after much searching, reading descriptions, and reading reviews. The main reason I had to look for a second air fryer is that the first air fryer I purchased (which was one of the recommended models by the Test Kitchen Air Fryer Cookbook), had an inner basket with a non-stick coating that started to peel off after only 2 months of use. After contacting the manufacturer of the first air fryer, I was put on a waiting list for a basket, but after one month, I grew tired of waiting. In my research, peeling baskets seemed to be a common problem across many models. I did find an air fryer that was too small for my use, but in the description noted that it was ceramic inside. So in my search window, I typed “ceramic interior air fryers”. There were several models that popped up, which I didn’t find when doing my initial research. I chose this model because I liked: (1) the size, (2) it was ceramic inside, (3) it came with a divider panel so you can cook two different foods at the same time, and (4) it was a small business purchase. I also liked that it can be used as a dehydrator, which I’ve not tried yet, but I like that it is a multi-use appliance. It has one small drawback that I needed to get used to, and that was that the basket and “drawer” are the same piece. On other air fryers the basket separates from the drawer and you can “dump” the contents onto a serving dish. You cannot do that with this model if you are cooking something that generates grease. You need to use tongs to get your food out. However, that was made clear in the description, so I knew what to expect. Food does not seem to stick and can be easily turned. (Chicken wings stuck to the basket of my previous model with the non-stick coating.) Cleanup is significantly easier. No soaking necessary, just a drop of Dawn dish soap, hot water and a regular dish sponge. If after a few months, my opinion changes, I will update this review. However, I think I made a good choice! ... show more

  • I do preheat the airfryer for about 3 minutes.
I haven’t used the Yedi airfryer much. But what I gave used it for worked very well. The airfryer isn’t noisey at all. I toasted an English muffin today and it turned out perfect. I will be having baked salmon for dinner with a baked potatoes.

  • Ceramic non stick coating means safe food
Come on, who doesn't love the idea of low fat crispy french fries? This is the reason there are literally hundreds of different air fryers on the market. So, why should you choose the Yedi air fryer over all of the others? Well, the main reason is because Yedi chose to use a ceramic coating for their non stick method. If you look at reviews for any fryer that uses a chemical spray on non stick product, you will see complaints of that coating pealing off after time. As that coating comes off, you and your family are eating that coating...even before the pealing becomes visibly noticeable. While the ceramic coating was my deciding factor in purchasing the Yedi, it also is the reason they lost a star on my rating. I feel the ceramic coating is perhaps too thin of a coating. Because of this, I feel that I must treat the food basket and tray very gingerly to avoid scratching or chipping the coating. Is this fear unfounded? I don't think so. When I unpacked my Yedi air fryer, I noticed that the food divider that can be used in the food basket had a light scratch down the middle of it. Not a big enough of a deal to return the Yedi, but still enough to make me worry about damaging the coating when cooking or cleaning the tray. I have had the fryer over a month now, and I haven't had any scratches or damage to the food basket or tray, but again, I am treating it very gingerly. Now, about that ceramic coating. It is simply amazing. I air fried some food that had a glaze that included maple syrup in the ingredients and I thought for sure I was in for quite the cleanup job after. Nope. When I rinsed the basket with hot water, the glaze that had dripped through the food tray and baked on to the bottom of the basket simply slid out of the basket in a single piece! This is indicative of all cleaning...it is quick and simple. One other thing I like about the food basket on the Yedi is that it doesn't have any hard to use latches or locking mechanisms to secure the basket. This doesn't mean that the basket isn't securely attached to the fryer when cooking. It takes a little force to insert and remove the basket into the fryer. This is a good thing as it makes it safe to use as the basket is hot when removed after cooking. But unlike other air fryers there is not any complicated latches on the handle to have to fight with when trying to insert or remove the basket. For those interested in power consumption figures, my kill-a-watt indicates that the Yedi uses 1670 watts when cooking. This drops down to 54 watts when the heating element cycles off. The touch controls are easy to use and understand. One thing I would like to address is the use of Olive Oil in the Yedi. I noticed many other reviewers were upset because the instructions advised not to use Olive Oil. The reason for this is while Olive Oil can be used for high temperature cooking, it has a smoke point around 410 degrees. Since the air fryer cooks upwards to 450, Olive Oil would start to smoke. I don't think too many people would want smoke billowing out of their air fryer when trying to prepare dinner. If you want a healthier oil to air fry with, just simply use Avocado Oil as it has a smoke point around 520 degrees. The included cookbook has quite a few good recipes in it and is useful to give you an idea as to how to adjust cooking times for the air fryer. However, there will be a little bit of an adjustment period learning to cook with an air fryer if you haven't used one before. The Yedi is very well built. It is of solid construction and feels of a quality appliance that should last a good long time. I am very pleased with my purchase and hope you will be too. ... show more

  • Vegetables taste incredible! Quick cooking! Large basket!
It heats up in less than 2 min. It cooks great! The price was wonderful for a ceramic interior that is very easy to clean and non toxic. I use it every other day as it’s so fast and convenient to cook in. There is no smell from the interior coating. It makes minimal fan noise and as stated, needs some clear space around it for the hot air to exit. I LOVE the air fryer!! ... show more

  • Falls apart.
Had this air fryer for a bit over 2 years. I like the fact you can clean it easily. Food doesn’t fall through the holes. The display is easy to use. But I had so many problems with it: 1. The first week using it the basket needed to be slammed and positioned a certain way for it to work.Since then we just adjusted to slamming it to work. 2. Doesn’t cook food evenly. 3.After first year it started to unscrew and fall apart. I have been screwing it together for over a year now. First the basket. After that the handle fell off.And now it unscrews every week. The problem is the part of the basket is plastic. So because of high temperature it expands and unscrews. I found screws on top of my food. So no good. I put up with it for so long because basket type air fryer is way better the shelf type. I hated cleaning those shelfs and the grease was running everywhere. This type you can put in dishwasher and be done. I was going to return it at the beginning. But don’t know why I kept it. Would I buy it again? Not a chance. Writing this so you don’t make my mistakes. I bought crispy air fryer by ninja. And what a change compared to this one. It is glass. Although it is smaller it seems to fit the same amount of food. It cleans so easily because it is glass. Cooks food so evenly. And it isn’t toxic. It is glass. It took me so long to find another non toxic air fryer and I did. Do not buy Yedi. It has so many many many many flaws. ... show more

  • Love this air fryer because it's Teflon-free, aluminum-free, and cooks quickly and evenly
TL;DR – Great build materials (stainless steel & ceramic coating). I did have a technical issue with the unit I bought (described below), but I contacted Yedi's customer service directly, and offered excellent customer service and speedily sent me a replacement unit, so I'm a very happy customer! Detailed experience: I did extensive research before selecting this air fryer. With a stainless steel finish and a ceramic cooking basket, it's a much cleaner, healthier alternative to the standard use of unhealthy aluminum and Teflon in most air fryers. This Yedi air fryer truly delighted me... for about 10 months. Then a critical build quality problem surfaced: the control panel started failing. Specifically, the Start button disappeared. For about 2 months, I was able to keep using it by pressing the area where the button should have been. I wasn't delighted about this, but I could still use it. And then, today, 364 days after buying the unit, the LED panel completely went completely dark. No icons lit. No amount of pressing anywhere on the panel managed to get it to work. Nevertheless, because of their great customer service, I still highly recommend this air fryer. ... show more
