    • High-quality, solid build, easy to install and setup, WiFi+app, fast charging, user access control.
This is a fine product. I have a Chevy Volt and I've been using its OEM charger so far that plugs into a 110V power outlet, and it was taking like 10-12 hours to fully charge the car. It was a really slow and painful process and if I followed my EV rate time schedule and charged only during low-cost hours then I couldn't get the car fully charged by the next morning. With this charger it's a different story! Level 2 charger with up to 40A charging rate lets me fill up my car in a matter of hours and it's guaranteed to be ready to go in the morning. The charger is very well made, it has a very "minimalistic" design, there are only 4 status LEDs on its front showing power, charging, error and WiFi status. Installation was very simple, and I was able to do it myself without needing to call in an electrician because I already have a 220V power outlet in my garage. So, installation was a matter of drilling four holes in my wall and attaching the charger box right next to the wall power outlet. Configuration and setup is straightforward as well. You can use it with WiFi or without. If you choose to connect it to WiFi then you can use its app to monitor charging, control charging mode and charging time and you also have full user control over who's allowed to charge from it. As I said, the charger appears to be well made, quality construction, it feels like a professional product. Inside it has an all-metal bracket that has to be mounted to a wall, the top cover is made of white plastic. All connectors are heavy duty and wires are very thick and sturdy. Everything feels high-quality and built to last. It's also IP6 waterproof, which makes it perfect for installation outside. So, I don't worry about leaving it under the rain or hot sun and trust it will provide years of worry-free EV charging. Friendly speaking, this charger is more geared for shared access in a small office or an apartment because of its access control features - you can use a phone app or RFID to "clock-in" and enable charging, if you just plug it in your car then it will not be charging your car. So, it's perfect if you install it in a public place in order to prevent unauthorized charging by someone. I don't need these features for my home charging station at all. It's possible that that's the reason why it's so expensive (around $550 at the time of writing this review). For this price I would expect that it would have an LCD screen as well, but it doesn't. *** TL;DR *** Yes, I recommend this EV level 2 charger. It is very well built and heavy-duty, fully waterproof IP65, WiFi-enabled with an app that gives you full control of charging mode and time. It's rated for level 2 fast charging, up to 40A, and has a long and thick charging cable. In addition, it allows for user access control via app or RFID. Unfortunately, it does not have an LCD display and does not allow charging from a 110V power outlet, limiting its "mobile" on-the-go usage. Lets be honest I was weary buying a non brand EV charger but I am glad I got this charger. The build quality is great. Everything about the charger feels high quality (from the looks, feel, etc). I like the look of the design (looks modern and contemporary). The cable is thick and heavy. It is even UL listed so you know this is safe to operate. There are two key bonus with this charger. 1. This charger has an App for your cell phone. You can monitor your car battery state of charge. 2. The charger is portable. You can take it with you and plug this charger into any 220V (ie electric dryer) and use the long 21 ft charging cable to charge your car. As a graduation present, my niece got her first car and was lucky enough to get an electric vehicle. While she had a charger at her parents house she did not have one at her boyfriends. When I came across this I just had to give it a try. My husband installed it for her and he said the installation was pretty straightforward and everything felt really well-made and not like it is going to burn down the house. The one thing that he thought was really neat was that you could set the charge times ... such a simple idea but I can see where that would be really beneficial. After seeing this one, my sister-in-law is considering changing out the one in her garage. I am really glad I picked this up and I would definitely get it again. 5 STARS ... show more
