  • Will power a small amplifier for busking.
Style: 296 Watt Hours
Nice little unit and the lantern option lasts and lasts...I have to run it down on purpose to recharge and keep battery strong. A necessity in Florida with frequent power outages.

  • Surviving hurricane season in the Gulf South
Style: 194 Watt Hours
I bought one of these smaller versions from Westinghouse, the iGen160s, very small and easy to carry around, but saw that the larger and more powerful station, the iGen200s was on sale at the same price, so I ordered 2 more for my children's bedrooms during our annual hurricane season in New Orleans. These ae great machines to keep your smaller electronic devices powered up during storms or whenever your electricity fails. Light weight, will charge 7 or 8 devices simultaneously, and good battery life span. Great emergency equipment. Then I bought the iGen300s and just received this larger unit, so I’m charging it up now. We have been advised by our Entergy Co. that we should be prepared to go off grid anywhere between 10-21 days depending on the severity of the storm. After Katrina, we take hurricane season very seriously and any tools that make life less unbearable are good tools, but these come with good value for the dollar and 2 year warranties. ... show more

Great for powering lights, charging phone or laptop and powering wifi during blackout. Won't power high wattage devices like a drill.

  • Updated: decent. (Was: Not reliable )
Style: 296 Watt Hours
Update: I returned the original to the manufacturer who replaced it at no charge and quick shipping. The new one has been working for a year with no problems. —— This battery backup does not hold a charge. If left plugged in for a long duration (weeks) it will display that it is fully charged but it is not. The power went out at our house today. The unit displayed a full charge, but when I plugged our fireplace fan into it, it displayed a 32w AC draw and lasted only about 5 minutes. We also have a gas generator. I plugged the iGen300s into our gas generator to charge it. Once fully charged again, I unplugged it from the gas generator, then plugged our fan back into it. It again displayed a full charge and a 32w draw. This time it lasted just over 1 hour before it died. At the time it died, it still displayed that it was half charged. This means the battery which is only 2 months old has less than a 40wh capacity when it should have nearly 300wh. This has happened twice. ... show more

  • Did not work when the power went out and I needed it most
Style: 296 Watt Hours
The power goes out on my road several times a year. Last year I almost froze to death in my home so I purchased this. I had had a Stanley Fatmax but the last time I plugged a fan in it blew up and I could never get the support number to answer the phone so I decided on this. First of all, the directions assume you know what they are talking about and the videos tell you how great it is but they don't tell you the basics--like how to turn it on??? There are 2 outlets. It doesn't give you examples of what you can plug in. You are supposed to know the wattage of all your appliances, apparently. I charged it up, and the first time the power went out, it was daylight and I didn't need it so I didn't try it. I recharged it 3 months later (August 1 of this year) and put it back in the box. Two days ago the power went out again. It was a dark, drizzly day, so I decided to plug in a lamp and read a book. There is no on/off switch. I plugged in the lamp and nothing happened. There is a button above the outlets and also above the DC current outlets which you can push, so I pushed the one above the outlets, but no light went on or anything. How do you even know if it's on? Nothing happened. I started getting upset because after last year when my house was 32 degrees and I thought I would die, I told myself I had to be more prepared. I cannot afford a house generator and have nobody to help me install it or anything. I started crying, thinking that, as usual, everything I try to do turns out like this. I turned the headlight on and nothing happened. Five hours later the power finally came on. I plugged the unit in and watched it charge up fully. A little while later, before putting it back in the box, I decided to use it to charge my phone, and after a half hour I went to get my phone and it had never charged. I started looking for an on/off switch again, wondering what was going on. I pushed the headlight button. NOTHING HAPPENED. I feel completely betrayed. I have no idea if I will get my money back or what to do. I can't work any more because I got sick 2 years ago, and I am on Social Security, which pays my monthly bills and that's it. I used my savings to buy this thing. ... show more
