I purchased this charger for my Audi e-tron 50 at home, and so far, it’s working great. The level 2 EV charger works seven times faster in fully electric cars and three times faster for plug-in hybrid than level 1 chargers. This helps me maximize the use of my EV, and I don’t have to make a stop at public charging stations anymore. I may have missed a con. I did not realize this until I got ready to write the review and maybe someone can help with the answer. Does the unit HAVE to be connected to wifi and the app to function? UPDATE: You DO NOT have to be in wifi to use the unit. I am a professional automotive technician working at a high-end used car dealership that may very well have the best used inventory in the state and I was asked to review this “home” EV charger. If indeed you have to use this in wifi with the app I will have to change my rating because that would be a huge downfall. I will be testing that in the future. Though it does say home EV charger. With that stated, I used this between three locations. Two shop locations and my home. I did purchase the Tesla adapter as that is the majority of our EVs. I also used it on Prius PHEV, a Chevy Volt, a Chevy Bolt, and a Nissan Leaf. So it stayed mobile. There are no Nema 4 plugs at the locations nor at my home so I did purchase the adapters to use with a welding plug and a dryer plug as well. I only have the units we have installed at the 2 locations which were significantly more expensive than this unit to compare this to and the TOPDON holds its own against these professionally installed “Tesla” EV chargers. I also have a professional-grade extension cord for a welder that I used at my house to get to the dryer plug. I know TOPDON may read this and have a meltdown but if can run a welder it can run an EV charger they wanted a transparent review and that is what I am trying to give you folks. I left this unit outside with over an inch of rainfall and did it again when our temperature plummeted. It was drug between 3 locations and left in a trunk and used in extreme weather and I cannot fault the performance of the unit at all. That is with the use of adapters and an extension cord. As far as charging time in comparison with our way more expensive installed units it holds its own. I would have liked to have gotten some temperature, amperage, and oscilloscope reading but simply not enough time, and let us face it most of you do not care anyway. I did a nonstop 72-hour charge between several EVs at the max and did not have any issues. So will this unit hold up at your home? Absolutely, I am quite impressed. ... show more

EDIT: The tech support contacted me (but after I had already returned the device) to tell me that they saw this review and made a change in the firmware of the charger to make sure the charger would work in this kind of scenario. I'm happy that their tech support and firmware development are so attentive, that's a great thing! I bumped the stars up by one for great tech support. This charging station was easy enough to install. It paired with the phone app easily enough. But, maybe it is too "smart" for its own good. No matter what I tried, I could not get it to cooperate with the car. The car already has the intelligence to know when to charge, it just needs the power delivered. This station would not do that. When plugged into the car, this station wants to charge immediately and if the car isn't ready, the station then cuts the power. Then when it is time that the car wants to charge, there is no power being delivered so the car doesn't get charged. So frustrating! In trying to resolve it, the phone app stopped communicating with the station and there was no way to reset it to get it communicating again. Had to send it back and get a more "dumb" charging station that works beautifully. ... show more
