    • Not fast but makes the work easier
This log splitter replaces a manual hand pump log splitter I had. It is 100x faster than my manual one! I usually run it off a generator since I am far from the house outlets. Most of the split wood is spruce, pine, and sometimes aspen. Nothing too hard. Some of the wood is very dry deadfall and has no issues. A bit bigger wheels would be nice so that it rolls over rough ground easier. I may be able to add those myself, though. ... show more

    • Works surprisingly well
I was skeptical about buying an electric wood splitter but I have to say it does the job well. I've used it twice so far to split up half and large quarter logs that I want to season faster and it did this effortlessly. I even split a few whole logs and larger half logs that barely fit into the tray and I was certain would give this machine trouble but it cut through them easily. In most cases the logs split completely after the maul only penetrated the log about a 1/4 of the way. I've had shoulder surgery twice and unfortunately while I'm healthy and strong enough to swing an axe or maul, I pay for it in pain the next day so this machine saves me from that and does a nice job. I can sit on a bench next to the machine with a pile of logs and in no time I have a bigger pile of split wood. My only critique is with the the wheels. They are plastic and wobble a little and I'm not expecting them to last long. But that should be an easy fix. I'll pick up some solid rubber/metal rim wheels next trip to the hardware store and replace them. I use a leaf blower to clean this machine after each use and it does a good job of getting rid of all the little wood bits and dust that build up each time you use it. ... show more

I have no idea if this log splitter works well or not because it arrived broken. Now, as you can see in the pictures, the cast iron piece of the motor that connects it to the frame was completely cracked. I have no idea how this can happen; I would assume it requires a major force to achieve this. The item was also leaking oil. Consequently, the machine was a dysfunctional piece of junk. Very disappointing -- I returned it at no cost (not an easy procedure!) and got a refund. ... show more

    • Works well
Have used it for about a month now and it seems to work very well. It doesn't like large pieces of wood with a lot of knots. Straight grain is like butter this will take on a 15 inch long by 10 inch diameter chunk like its nothing. I am very impressed very happy with it. Works much better with strait cut wood. So when your cutting the wood up keep your cuts square and about 15 inches long. Try to keep knots at one end or the other. If you do that it will split anything you throw at it. Don't try to split large knots and don't try to split short cut dry old chunks of wood, they don't split, they explode, not good. Very happy with this little guy, would buy again, but I don't think I'll have to for awhile. ... show more

    • It's a Monster
WOW!!! This thing is a monster. I split logs 18 inches in diameter. Never thought it would handle it, but it did without a problem. So happy that I chose this splitter. I highly recommend it. Only criticism is that the wheels are too close together, which makes it easy to tip over on uneven ground.

    • Works as advertised!
Just came today, unboxed it, put the wheels on it, plugged it in and started splitting wood. My wood has been drying for 2 years, and had no trouble splitting any of it. I’ll enter another review after I’ve had it for a couple months. So far it’s great!
