  • Wow! Great tool.
Style: Precision Measuring
Works great. Tried splitting the heaviest log and split with no problem. Not as fast as my fly wheel splitter but fast enough. Off course it is a lot quieter than the gas splitter. I keep it in my garage on a table to make it higher and easier to use. Advise to stand at the end because some logs will kick out when split. Hard to read the oil dip stick. Looks like it came with oil already in. Nothing about adding oil in instructions except to change after 150 hours of use. Easy to use. Worth the money , good quality, ... show more

  • Great splitter!
Style: Precision Measuring
I was initially hesitant in deciding to purchase an electric splitter. I mean, how much power could this thing really have, right? But I decided to give it a go. And I am very satisfied with the results. This splitter is great for small-to-medium size jobs. I keep mine in the garage mainly for splitting larger cuts of firewood into more manageable pieces. But this thing will easily handle a 12-inch round and split it with ease. I especially like the one-handed operation option. However, I would recommend purchasing a footswitch (roughly $15) when using the one-handed option. This will allow you to easily remove power to the motor after the split is completed. Additionally, power isn't required during the arm retraction portion. The power cord is relatively short (about 6 feet), so I recommended purchasing a 20-30 foot (12 AWG) extension cord. Of course, gas-powered splitters are more powerful. But for the average homeowner, the electric splitter is an ideal addition to your yard tool collection. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend the Yardmax YS0650 to anyone with small-to-medium wood splitting needs. ... show more

  • Deceptively powerful little BEAST!
Style: Precision Measuring
Do not underestimate how powerful this little thing is, for an electric log splitter of this size the performance is pretty impressive. Elm logs 16” in diameter and 8” in length split pretty easily, 8” in diameter and 16” in length even easier. I’m 63 years old and I can barely swing a golf club, I definitely can’t swing an axe, this splitter is making my life a lot easier. I also had a couple of old pieces of eucalyptus that have been curing for about 15 years that were just too tough to split with an axe when I was younger but they took this beast no time to split. The only reason I didn’t give this five stars is something has to be really exceptional to get five stars from me, but I had to argue with myself a little bit about that. ... show more

  • Great Splitter
Style: Precision Measuring
I love swinging an axe to chop wood, but after a while my back doesn't. This machine has save me many swings, and when your swing isn't 100% accurate, there is a chance some wood comes flying in your direction. This is a safe and easy way to split wood

  • Very good light duty splitter.
Style: Precision Measuring
I was really skeptical about these to start with. I watched a couple of YT videos and I decided to give one a try. These are the real deal if you use them for what they are intended to do. I use it for processing Cedar kindling and it has made the job so much easier. If you want a splitter for knotty green hardwoods or Pines, this is NOT for you. It's only 6.5 ton. This is a light duty splitter for softer woods. However it will take on some moderately nasty stuff. The machine is actually pretty quiet and super easy to use. Since it's electric, it can actually be used indoors as well. I cut a batch of kindling in my living room the other day. If you want a light duty affordable splitter, this is well worth the money. ... show more

  • Wish it stood on end
Style: Precision Measuring
I've had an electric log splitter for a couple decades now and it works as good now as it did then. But one thing I've hated is that it's one of those that forces two-hand operation. You've got to hold down one button to get the motor started and then push the lever to activate the piston. The biggest problem for me is that although I get my wood pre-seasoned and split, often some of the pieces are too thick and I need to split them. The old electric splitter can split them, but once the split happens, the pieces shoot out of the end like rockets. They once hit my wife in the ankle. My solution to this was to push down on the button with my left knee. This freed up my right hand so that I could keep the splitting log in place. But last year I fell and broke my left knee and am now unable to do this anymore. This Yardmax splitter solves this problem completely. Turn the motor on and it stays on until you turn it off. Game changer for me. One thing I'm not thrilled with is that it must remain in the horizontal position. I stored the old splitter standing upright in a corner. Space is tight for me and I honestly don't have room to leave it flat on the floor. If you do try to stand it on end, it wants to put the pressure on the piston lever and isn't stable. Also, they say that you really shouldn't leave it vertical. Something to do with fluid leaking. ... show more
