Do not underestimate how powerful this little thing is, for an electric log splitter of this size the performance is pretty impressive. Elm logs 16” in diameter and 8” in length split pretty easily, 8” in diameter and 16” in length even easier. I’m 63 years old and I can barely swing a golf club, I definitely can’t swing an axe, this splitter is making my life a lot easier. I also had a couple of old pieces of eucalyptus that have been curing for about 15 years that were just too tough to split with an axe when I was younger but they took this beast no time to split. The only reason I didn’t give this five stars is something has to be really exceptional to get five stars from me, but I had to argue with myself a little bit about that. ... show more

This yardmax log splitter is a beast! I am 69 years old. This bad boy made my project so much easier. I split 2+ face cords of ash (very tough hardwood) in two mornings. Very large diameter logs. My only regret is that I didn't have this wonderful tool years ago.

The media could not be loaded. We had trees fall/cut down. We needed to split lots of wood and an axe was out of the question. This product worked excellent, no stalling at all. Would buy again in a heartbeat. The pile of wood shown is just 1 of 7.

The media could not be loaded. We got this for my daughter as a holiday gift. So instead of driving, paying $100, working in a hurry, gotta get that thing back or risk more rent, now they can split all they need at any time and it's paid for itself in three sessions. I have no idea if this log splitter works well or not because it arrived broken. Now, as you can see in the pictures, the cast iron piece of the motor that connects it to the frame was completely cracked. I have no idea how this can happen; I would assume it requires a major force to achieve this. The item was also leaking oil. Consequently, the machine was a dysfunctional piece of junk. Very disappointing -- I returned it at no cost (not an easy procedure!) and got a refund. ... show more

The size is awesome and it seems to do well with splitting the wood we have. Got a pedal to help control operation so I can hold logs and not use two hands to operate. Well made and does the job.
