Functionally speaking, this product will produce the desired result (crushed cans) but there are a few things I think someone may want to consider before purchasing. The amount of force needed to crush a can was a little more than I needed. I don't think that's the fault of this product, though, I think it's purely physics. I don't have one to compare against, but I would think you likely don't get the same leverage you get with a can crusher that has a handle. All of that having been said, while it's not a problem for me, one of the reasons I chose this product over others was because I felt the fact that it was on the ground would make it easier for my child (5/6 age) to use. It's actually relatively difficult for them to crush a can just by stepping on it and typically they need to first squeeze the can a little in the middle so it's not so structurally rigid. The second issue I had was that the platform that you step on to crush the cans moves independently on the poles on each side. Because of the fitting, there is a little space between the side poles and the platform loops they fit through. This ends up sometimes causing one side to get pressed lower than the other and the platform gets wedged stuck. When that happens you have to readjust the platform to fix it. To summarize: will this crush cans? Yes, it will. Are there some inconveniences that if I had a time machine I would go back and look at a different product? Probably.

A simple product clearly made from cheap material and overpriced. I didn't realize I bought the Apple version of a can crusher. The paint is already pealing after using it on twenty cans. There's scratches on the metal as well. I'm waiting for it break any time now. As long as I can smash all the cans I have I'll do it's job well enough.

I loved the idea of this product. Upon receipt, I started to use it and quickly noticed the top plate wouldn't "rebound" after the can was crushed most of the time. I re-read the instructions to make sure I was using it properly, so I removed the towel I had under it as it says a flat surface is required and I carefully made sure each can was properly placed and had a dent in it (as recommended). Even after I did that, I estimate that only 2 or 3 times out of 10 it would rebound without me manually lifting the top plate back into position. It got tedious after a while so I figured especially with the high price of the item, it wasn't worth me keeping it. The item was shipped to me in a product box which was not contained within a different shipping box, so the original product box had some dents in it from the original shipping. When I went to process the return, I had quite a surprise! First, the instructions said I could ship it back any method, and I would be refunded $3.99 once the return was received. That rubbed me the wrong way, but I figured I must have missed that it was not a free return item for Prime Members. When I checked to see the cost to return it, between UPS, USPS and FedEx, the least expensive method was $21.48! It bothered me that I had to pay that amount of shipping for a product that didn't work as described, so I called Amazon and they agreed to offer me a refund for the return shipping I paid, which I was quite appreciative of. I also checked the product description again and it did say "Free returns" so I'm still not sure why I got the instructions I did. Great product idea - it may have just been my experience that was "off" what was expected but I'm very disappointed it didn't work as expected.

This product is great as long as you align it properly. The platform sometimes gets stuck in the down position when you crush a can or bottle. My fix is to step down on the platform again to release the spring. My husband wishes the guide bars were made of more sturdy material, but so far we like the results.

I cannot use this by stepping on it but, if I lean over in my chair and push with both hands, it does the job. The results with my particular plastic bottles were inconsistent, see photo. I wanted something that would reduce the volume of waste in my trash can and this does that. It is expensive but, for my OCD soul, it is worth it.

I got this for my spouse to use since that is the preferred method of crushing cans. I ended up using it myself every few weeks. It can feel like a little bit of exercise so that is a plus for me. I like that is is a simple concept. Sometimes the cans take a moment to compress and get crushed, It works for me and I like that the base feels strong, heavy and sturdy.
