Within the first week of installing and using this product and I'm very happy this. I have had no issues other reviews complain about regarding integration with Google Home. The one-click unlock / lock works for me. Installing the door lock was faster than I had anticipated and the instructions were very clear and of high quality. The product is both simple, attractive, and functional. I plan to purchase two more for other doors. I can't yet talk about battery life, but if it the Matter protocol does what it is supposed to and I get within the ballpark of 12-months then I'll be very happy.     • Only seems to connect to Google Hubs - not other Matter over Thread hubs (at least in USA)

Hardware installation was fairly straightforward. However, it will not connect to my home network - only the app (bluetooth only). All the info states it is compatible with Matter over Thread hubs - I have many - Echo, Eero, SmartThings. You supposedly go into the Yale Home app and enable Matter and then connect to whichever hub you want. Unfortunately, in the US, this app is NOT available. You have to use the Yale Access app which does not appear to have an option to enable Matter. I have emailed support (Yale) but haven't heard back yet. I really don't want to have to purchase a Google Hub just to connect this device. If that is the case, they should make that very clear in the documentation. ... show more

Installation is pretty straight forward. Build quality seems sturdy enough with a nice heft to it. It took me 40 mins to go step by step using the video instructions with verifying measurements for the door. Set up with the Google Home app could've been better. There's no prompt during set up to set your pin. If you try to use the Google Home app to unlock it before setting a pin, you’ll be greeted with an incorrect pin message. Too many failed attempts and it’ll temporarily lock you out. You’ll have to find the pin settings in the “Household & Access” part of the settings for the lock. You’ll be able to set a pin for each user of your household. Google dropped the ball on this crucial step of the process. Once the pin is set, it gives you an option to have Google Home app save the pin so you don’t have to enter it every time you unlock it from the app. Unfortunately, this did not work initially. I had to clear storage data from the Google Home app, uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my phone to get it to remember the pin. It comes with an Doorsense sensor to place next to the lock and lets you know if the door in the open or closed position in the Home app. There's no option for Doorsense notifications that I found, but it’s good to see whether the door is left open at a glance. Doorsense does require calibration which takes about 5 mins. There's 4 options for locking/unlocking. You can use a physical key (1 included), pin entry on the keypad, Google Home app, or using a voice command with the Google assistant. The assistant does ask you to say the pin out loud to lock/unlock, so keep that in mind if you have people around. Other features include auto locking after a certain period of time (currently only 30 secs to 2 mins) and a vacation mode, which disables the keypad when you're away. Since this is a Google Home preferred product, this will not work with the Yale app if you're using it with Google Home. Overall it's a good entry level Lock. I wished more options were included such as location proximity that locks or unlocks based on your location. Funny enough, that feature is advertised in the manual. Maybe in a future update. Once you get this lock up and running as it should, it’s great. Just make sure whatever Matter hub you’re using is within range. Bad. Not ready. Does not work. I purchased this lock as well as a Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen as a matter hub and thread border router. Installed it all. Followed all instructions. I’m actually good at this stuff. Six hours later and it simply will not connect. To anything. The lock seems well built but the software is worse than buggy. Avoid forever. ... show more

Replaced my 3 Assure Lock 2 WIFI locks for these. Could not get the Assure locks to connect to Apple Home at all. With these Matter locks I could bypass the Yale app entirely and set them up immediately in Apple Home and Google Home apps. Initial setup was slightly finicky, but holding down on the gear icon until it beeped a few times got it working perfectly. I could set up access codes immediately and everything has been get so far. They are also much slimmer and better looking than the Assure Locks. A bonus for me is having the physical key, always great to have a backup if the battery dies on me. We had the first generation Nest x Yale Lock on our front door for 6 years with heavy use and we loved it, but unfortunately the keypad was starting to act up. We purchased this as a replacement and it's wonderful! The installation was a breeze, and the mechanics feel very solid. The app setup was also much easier than the old lock, I would go as far to say It was a 10-fold improvement. Additionally, the power to move the mechanics to lock the door seems to have also improved and we feel confident every time we lock the door that it's actually going to lock. I would highly recommend this product due to ease of installation and integration with the Google home ecosystem. ... show more

Bought this for the matter support so I could integrate into Google home and/or smart things. I cannot get it to connect to my matter over thread devices (tried nest hub gen 2 and the smart things hub version 3). The only way I can get it connected to my phone is by using their Yale connect app which uses Bluetooth to connect. Yale support seems to be unable/unwilling to help - 3 days in a row, they asked the same question (this is after an hour with them on the phone). They finally said "we need to loop in Google - we will get back to you" When I asked for for a target resolution date, they said please contact Google. Good luck with that Anyway, going to wait till a few days before the return window closes and will then send it back. Pity.. ... show more
