    • Good Lock ... but DoorSense (Door Sense) Is Not Available/Exposed to ZWave Hubs

I like the lock. The lock operation overall seems good and connection through the App, and also to my Hubitat Hub seems to work well. For my situation I needed a ZWave repeater to strengther the ZWave signal as the lock appears to only communicate about 10 yards over ZWave by itself. This is probably to limit the battery drain ... so I am not too concerned about that. Using Bluetooth to the phone app still works when over 25 yards distant! I was certainly expecting (from the Yale website statements that it was compatible with many hubs) that DoorSense would be available (over ZWave) to the hub to enable sensing if the door was open/closed. My testing and Yale support indicated that at this time, DoorSense is not exposed over Zwave to the hub. That is unfortunate … and potentially a case of poor/inaccurate advertising. I hope that Yale decides to make DoorSense available soon … perhaps if everyone on ZWave emails support it would help get the feature sooner. ... show more

    • It works well, but the "improvements" are a step back in usability

The lock works well once it's installed and configured. The older locks one touch locking worked by touching any button. This one only locks if you touch the Yale button. Forcing you to use a specific button that has no other purpose but locking is a step back in usability! Once touch lock should work with any button like before. The older locks were configured straight from the keypad and were easy to setup. They added Bluetooth to this, and they force you to use the Yale app for configuration. Frequent timeouts, and inaccurate or incomplete instructions in the app make installation and initial setup a far worse experience than the old keypad setup method. And I can't get DoorSense to work at all. Probably because I followed the instructions in the app for flush mounting the magnet 1.5" to 3.5" above the strike plate. The printed instructions show a MAXIMUM of 1.5", and it's to the top of the magnet, not the center. So mine is mounted maybe 1/2" too high thanks to poor instructions. And since it's mounted in a hole drilled in the door it cannot be moved! The app practically forces you to use the instructions in the app, so I didn't look at the printed instructions until it was already installed and not working! Thankfully I have a separate door sensor, and I use that to prevent locking while open. ... show more

This fixed my problem! I had the nest x Yale lock but since google is doing away with nest protect I lost the function of the my lock. This one pairs nicely with the ADT system. Operates smoothly and quietly. The mat black finish looks really nice.

Removed my standard deadbolt lock and installed the new Yale Assure 2 without any issues. I connected it to my Ring alarm system and now I can always see if/when the kids leave the door unlocked. We added a code for the cleaning people and was able to set a time when that code is active. Love not having to need a key for our door anymore. ... show more

I'm returning this. The older Assure Lock let you set up the lock on the keypad and it was very simple to do. This way you did not need the app if you intended to use the lock with z-wave. Now you are forced to register and connect this thing to the cloud to set it up which is unacceptable for a z-wave lock intended for local control only. Second, even though the pictures show the new, black z-wave module you will get the very outdated green module. There is also reduced z-wave functionality in this lock. I have not been able to set any security and I don't even get the battery level. To upgrade to the current z-wave (black) module will cost you an extra $119. This is a HUGE downgrade from the original Assure Lock. ... show more
