  • This pool pump has so far passed my expectations.
My husband and I replaced our old Hayward pump that died after replacing the centurion motor 3 yrs ago. We took a chance on this XtremepowerUS pump that had good reviews & the price was awesome. We first purchased the pump that was 2hp with a 240 voltage & we had to send it back for a refund because it overheated & even the water in basket was hot. Something told me to look at my old pump to see what the voltage & HP was it was 1.0 hp & 230/115 voltage. I repurchased the same pump with a 1.5 hp & 230 voltage we installed it a week ago, pressure is strong & it prime in seconds so far so good & I was also able to work my Polaris pool cleaner with no problem. So far I’m impressed & happy with my purchase & the price is amazing. The key is to replace with the same voltage & close to the same HP the only reason I didn’t purchase the 1.0 hp is that pump states it only works on spas & not inground pools. ... show more

  • XtremepowerUS 1.5HP Inground Pool Pump 5280GPH
I ordered, then read the reviews. Was wondering. What I experienced. Pump arrived on time. Perfect, cause my old one went and I had a party the next day. The PVC couplings for the pump were in the box with the 'O' rings. It hooked up quick. The pictures in the manual were enough to be able to wire the pump. But I know 220 and this is not my first rodeo with wiring. But, I had been warned. The pictures 'could' be better. Pump has been running for 7 days and the suction is great. My pump primes in 22 seconds every time. Pressure is at 18. Only set back was the Hi/Lo switch broke and was not working. I bypassed the switch. I contacted the seller and a new switch was in the mail in 3 days. Will replace. BUT, so far I am happy. Esp about the pump prime when I start it. Before my old impeller took MINUTES to prime and get going. UPDATE: Just received my switch. Well I asked for a switch. Did not want to be too greedy. They sent me a new switch and the whole back cover the switch is housed in. WOW. Even sent me the two screws that hold the housing in-place. I call this good customer service. BTW, pump is still going STRONG!!! Good buy! ... show more

  • Factory warranty is only 90 days if self installed...One year if by certified electrician
Got this pump a year agao as a lower cost replacement for a name brand (Haywo.....) pool pump. 220 v Installation was ok, but this pump is about 2 inches longer in the motor section than the old one so keep that in mind if you are tight for space. Out of the box, this motor was quite a bit noisier than the name brand but I figured for about 2/3 the cost it was acceptable. The water flow was a bit less also, a little lower psi on the filter gauge but still also acceptable. At 10 months (running 4 hours a day- small pool) the thing was so loud a normal conversation was impossible next to it. At 11 months it started to really squeal and grind. At 12 months it (actually 11.5 months almost to the day) it froze up completely and just hums til the thermal switch shuts it off. With the extended warranty, Amazon is now refunding purchase price so that helps, Im just out the time and about $60 in pvc fittings since it did not match up with he old pump plumbing. As much as I like giving new products and manufacturers a try, I'd avoid this one. Trying a Harris pump next... ... show more

  • Works Great...And Quiet
I had to replace a pump and didn't have the money for a Hayward so I researched and found this one. I was skeptical cc at first because it was so cheap, and now it's even cheaper! Anyway, we had no problem installing it but we did have some problems with the wiring configuration. It's not at all clear which connections to use. The marking on the pump is not consistent with the required wiring diagram so we connected it wrong the first time. The pump would start right up but then it would quit after about to 45 seconds and it never was able to get going again. We did further research online and decided to switch the wiring. The next problem we had was that, although it's supposed to be self priming, don't count on it! I had to run water in the pump strainer for about 5 minutes to make sure all pipes were full. After that, it started right up and started running. I released the excess air that had built up during our several attempts and pump was humming right along! It's been running fine ever since. No problems at all! It's VERY quiet too.... Much quieter than the one we took out. I'm very happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it to anyone needing a pool pump ... show more

  • Best bang for the buck, plenty of mileage to get out of these
Is it the best pool pump ever? No. Was it amazing at this price point? Yes. I am purchasing my 2nd almost 4 years from when I bought the first. My pool pump runs year round and Unless I'm actively cleaning the pool or shocking the pool I leave this puppy on low speed, 12 hours a day, 265 days a year. What a trooper. My pool is the right size for this pump and I can't complain if I need to replace it every 3 and a half years so be it. ... show more

  • Great choice!
This could not have easier to install. I know nothing about electricity or would ever attempt to play with it. This pump had 2 plug-in wires and one green ground wire. It has 2 speeds and is so quiet you can't hear it running when it's on low. High speed makes a slighting louder noise. Nothing like my old pump, though. What an awesome buy too. I had a quote of $1,100. from my pool company to replace the old pump/motor. I couldn't be happier. ... show more

  • Very loud. Not the best customer service.
Bought this pump back in April of 2025. Had it professionally installed. Worked great for about 2 months, its gotten so loud I can only run the pump on low speed. I think the bearings are going out. I've tried contacting the manufacture, sat on hold for 30+minutes to no end. Sent them an email, said it would take 48 hours for a response. Nothing yet. Hopefully I can get some response and a replacement soon. ... show more
