I purchased this to replace an older Pentair 100 sq ft filter. As you can see from the photos, I had to do some minor modifications to my present pump unit to mount the filter, as the dimensions were slightly different ( aren’t they always?). I also used 4 heavy-gauge vinyl angles to securely fastened the filter to the pump base. The best part of the job is the performance of his filter. The flow rate is considerably higher than with the old unit, causing less back pressure on the pump and much better cleaning and water circulation in the pool. This season we had some water issues, and this filter cleared it up. When I cleaned the cartridge, I was impressed at how much and how fine the contaminates were that this filter caught, and was still flowing well. Disassembly of the housing to do the cleaning was incredibly easy compared to my old Pentair. A great device at a great price! ... show more

I upgraded my failed 75 sqft inground pool filter for this 200 sqft filter. Excellent price, delivery faster than promised. Product seemed good out of box, convenient top half removal, filter element supplied seems to work well but noticed cloudy pool first day but it cleared up. There is a big problem installing. I followed the instructions to use teflon tape, hand tighten then one more turn for 2 inch MPT supply and return fittings. They leaked, turns out the female theaded ports are tapped too large and the pipe fitting does seal before going in to the max the fitting allows. Looks like they planned for an O-ring fitting or non-pipe thread. After five tries I got it to stop leaking. Use better than normal tape that is thicker, apply about 20 wraps until threads are almost smooth, make sure you can still see threads when tightened. Only plumb with a union close on each line. 1. Brand new main seal leaks. It's the design of the mating surface. The oring is not compressed, deformed, nicked or scratched. 2. Inside the unit the inlet is close to the outlet thus utilizing a small portion of the filter. There should be a pipe from the center bottom to the top of the housing with small holes in it to direct water to flow thru the filter instead of one spot. 3. The air vent plug in top of the unit should be a value. Currently a air bubble resides in the top half of the filter with nowhere to go and the top half of the filter newer even gets wet. Unplugging the vent to fill the housing and then capping it it a bad idea. I will be placing a small quarter turn valve so I can turn in my pump(before thee filter), open the valve and purge the air out. ... show more

Very impressed with this little filter. My old 520 sq ft filter reached the end of its life and I decided to downsize to this filter for two reasons, 1) The price per sq ft is fantastic, and 2) Ease of cleaning. My old filter had 4 cartridges that took forever to clean, and disassembling/reassembling the housing was a pain. But this new filter makes it so easy to clean, my plan is to clean it more frequently. Removing the lid is simple, just squeeze the two latches and rotate. The lid pops off and the filter can be hosed down in minutes. Then pop the filter back in, lubricate o ring, replace lid and rotate until you hear it click. Incredibly simple. It should make it easier to clean more frequently and save a lot of time and hassle. I got this filter for $330, whereas replacing my old filter with the same model would have been $1600. For anyone wanting to install this, you will need two 2” MIP - Slip PVC unions. I ordered these on Amazon for $20. The ones I ordered were listed for the Pentair Whisperflo and Intelliflo pumps. I will update with any issues 6 MONTH UPDATE: So I downgraded my rating to 3 stars. The main reason is that I’m having to clean the filter almost weekly. It does a great job at capturing dirt, almost too good because the filter jumps from 12 psi after a clean, to 20 psi within a matter of days. For my system, the flow rate effectively goes to zero at 20+ psi. I’m highly skeptical that this filter is 200 sq ft, it feels more like 50 sq ft. Either that or it has a micron rating so small that it clogs up far too fast. Which is obviously a great thing for making a clean pool, but cleaning it weekly is getting a little exhausting. My old 520 sq ft filter needed cleaning every 6 months, so using basic math, a 200 sq ft filter would need cleaning every 2-3 months, certainly not weekly. I may have to swap this out for a different filter. My pool is fairly small so I wouldn’t recommend this filter for anything other than a spa. 9 MONTH UPDATE: I removed and trashed the filter. It just wasn’t practical anymore and was getting clogged every week. Replaced with a much beefier Jandy filter that has been working great. ... show more
