Recently I purchased the XTOOL D6S because I wanted a scan tool to keep in my vehicle as peace of mind while out on the road. I already have one of the larger XTOOL products which I have been using as my daily tool in the shop. I was so impressed with its performance after purchasing it that I knew I wanted to stay with XTOOL for my next one. I really didn’t expect much from it given its affordability but this did not matter as it was for occasional use. After using it for a week to make sure it would do the job, I was extremely surprised by it. It’s actually performs every bit as well as my tools costing three times the price. Not only this but it also has nearly all the same features. The interface remains the same so becomes very familiar across tools. The D6S includers vehicle specific diagnostics for almost all makes of cars up to the current model year and offers lifetime updates to ensure it does not become obsolete in the future. This is a huge point because I have older tools that now only work on older vehicles. It also has a graphing function as well as auto VIN detection and full report generation features. After diagnosis you can have it create a nicely formatted report with options to print or email directly from the unit. Whether you’re just a casual DIY’r or professional mechanic this is very useful as you have a detailed report saved in the unit for the history of each vehicle and can provide a printout should it ever need to go to a shop. The D6S also includes a micro-SD card slot allowing you to easily increase the storage capacity should you ever need to. This as well as the live graphing capability, and great performance are things I’ve never seen in a unit as affordable as this. This is a great tool for anyone that wants all the capabilities of the pro systems or for a pro that wants something to take along on the road. I have included a few photos where you can see that even though this tool has very powerful capabilities, the interface is very intuitive and makes using the tool easy for beginners and pro’s alike. In conclusion I am very pleased with the D6S and the comfort having this in my vehicle brings. When that dreaded check engine light comes on, you are blind unless you have something to help you determine why. At this price point it is a great value that will pay for itself as soon as you use it

The media could not be loaded. The XTOOL D6S has proven to be an impressive and highly capable scan tool, especially considering its affordability. As an ASE-certified technician, I’ve used many diagnostic tools over the years, and the D6S stands out as a well-rounded option for both professionals and serious DIYers. The touchscreen is exceptionally responsive bright, clear, and easy to navigate. One of the first things I noticed was how quickly it performs AutoVIN recognition and begins scanning vehicle systems. This tool provides OE-level diagnostics across all modules, including powertrain, ABS, SRS, HVAC, and transmission, allowing for deep and accurate troubleshooting on a wide range of vehicles. Live data functionality is robust, with the ability to graph up to four PIDs simultaneously. This is particularly helpful when diagnosing more complex issues like intermittent stalling or fuel trim discrepancies. The ability to save diagnostic reports and email or print them later is a great feature for shop workflows or sharing with customers. Where the D6S really shines is in its suite of over 30 maintenance functions many of which are typically only found in much more expensive tools. I was able to perform crankshaft position relearn, idle relearn, A/C actuator calibration, and even adjust tire size. It also supports advanced functions like transmission adaptation, throttle body relearn, injector coding, ABS brake bleed, and electronic parking brake reset. For many users, this could eliminate the need for costly dealership visits for common resets and calibrations. The XTOOL D6S is a feature-rich scan tool that delivers exceptional value. Unless you specifically need bi-directional control for more advanced testing (which the XTOOL D7S offers), the D6S is more than capable for most diagnostic and service needs. I recently bought the XTOOL D6S and have been very happy with it's capabilities. As a DIY'er that primarily does most of my repairs to keep my cost of ownership low(er). I have 3 Subarus with the oldest being a 2003 and the newest a 2019. I also, when I have time, take care of my mom's 2005 Highlander as well as help friends with their cars. To be honest, the D6S has way more capability than my skills. For the unit itself it is a OBD II scan tool. For all the things I need to do for regular maintenance, this tool helps me perform all my tasks with high accuracy; such as monitoring my CVT temperature so that I can accurately and completely fill up the transmission. Anecdotally, this unit seems faster than other, higher-end OBD II scan tools that I have used; such as AUTO SCAN for the VIN and performing a full/complete scan- I don't know if it the OS or something else. A feature that really stood out to me is the lifetime updates; many companies will require a fee for updates after 2-3 years... not for the D6S. As stated earlier the D6S has more capabilities than my skills. If I can not figure out how to do something with the D6S, I message XTOOL and I will get a reply within 24 hours which includes complete step-by-step instructions... outstanding! XTOOL's customer service is top notch. This alone is why you should by a XTOOL product. Having this tool has saved me money already, vs going to a shop, and let's me justify buying more tools... bonus! I'm usually hesitant to give a full 5 out of 5 stars on a product. But, I just can't find anything wrong with the D6S and as a bonus XTOOL's customer service is top notch. So, 5 / 5 STARS!!!
