It works! For some reason when I plug my Samsung 2T hard drive into my Sony Bravia's USB port, videos are incredibly choppy and it seems the TV is trying to constantly access and buffer the file every 5-10 seconds. Now, when I plug that same Samsung hard drive into the Xiaomi box and connect the Xiaomi Box to my TV via HDMI, I am able to play the movies perfectly. No stuttering, the files are accessed instantly and everything is smooth. I downloaded the Kodi app which has the ability to play videos encoded in Dolby Vision. Not sure if the Xiaomi Box does that natively, I will try that next. VLC is another app that should work great if neither of the two aforementioned apps work. Thank you! Edit: I tried playing the videos using the native Xiaomi media player and the file was not recognized (mkv file) so the Kodi app is in fact needed. ... show more

It's not my first time I'm buying this device from this seller and I have had no problem at all, but There was a problem with the device, lately xiaomi I don't know what they are doing to the operating system but the device was defective it keeps restarting so I had to turn it I will buy new one

The remote control is of such poor quality that it feels bad to just hold it. But the biggest problem is that it is useless. I bought it Because I thought it was a full Android-based device. But it is absolutely not. Very limited APP availability and compatibility. Sideloading apps is not only difficult but also meaningless, because even after being sideloaded, the apps are not compatible and unusable anyway. A total waste of time. Several hours of trying everything to prove it might work. I'm more than disappointed. I'm upset with this product and its maker Xiaomi. How could this be competitive against Amazon Fire TV? This would have been a good concept if it were a full Android device, with Android TV being just a feature app (or even dominant one for that matter). But with a castrated Android (worse than castrated actually) and a weak Android TV, this is a pointless product, especially when you consider Fire TV. ... show more
