  • Works Great.
Style: Power Inverter
Excellent product with a small footprint.

  • Impressive
Style: Power Inverter
I waited some time from purchase to experience the inverter before writting a review. Overall the Xantrex line of XC sine wave inverter chargers are impressive. This xc2000 replaced an older and failing inverter only setup in a mobile truck. A considerable amount of time was spent researching and comparing the large players in the inverte space, i.e. victron, aims, etc. The XC model offered all the features needed for living on the road contained within one easy to use package for straightforward install. The biggest debate was to spend the extra money on the Pro models or even purchase the 3000 watt model. Here is my observations from form use. If you drive regularly or stay connected to AC mains/generator regularly the added 12v charging amps of the Pro models are not needed as the batteries will remain close to fully charged by simply driving and A/C power connections. The 2000 watt is capable of starting a 1500watt microwave/ airfrier without trouble while running a 3.1cf frige all in inverter mode. If you have an Air Conditioner or electric heat then the 24Amps of 120v AC power from the Mains/Generator connector is needed. In the midst of summer the unit rarely becomes hot enough to hear the fans. The added sugre time of the 2000 pro in reality is not needed. Taking a moment to discuss added features. Buy the bluetooth remote that is available. This will make adjusting the plethora of settings much simpler on your phone and seeing the status of energy use. If no load is present the inverter 25hr auto shutdown feature will enabled. After install and initial power on, we believed we got a defective unit only to discover the hidden feature. The only criticism to report is the weight of the unit it substantial. Even for a high frequency inverter it carries weight. Be sure to mount the unit, wires, and cable connections securely for your application. Additionally, Xantrex could provide 2 plastic wire retaining clips to the accessory bag to kepp the 120v i/o cables firmly in place. Overall, it is an impressive device inverting and automatically swithcing sources to keep devices powered. Well engineered, when many many features and safeguards. Time will tell on overall product longevity. For now, the product is well worth the price and I'm pleased to have made this purchase. ... show more

  • Stopped working 2 months after purchase
Style: Power Inverter
Inverter was professionally installed and worked well for two months before giving a software error code. It stopped producing power at a time when we needed it and weren't in a place for an easy replacement. What a nightmare. I wont be using xantrex products again.

  • Good value. Does the job. Could be improved.
Style: Power Inverter
I installed an XC2000 in my Class C last Spring (2018). The first one kept throwing the breaker in my garage when I plugged into shore power. I figured that this had to do with my experience level with electrical work and electronics. Additionally, the inverter threw an error code that was not in the manual when this happened. If I ran the inverter with shore power unplugged, it ran fine. In any case, the error code was a "call tech support" code. Not very helpful on a weekend when we working types have the time to attack these projects. Fast forward, I also installed PV panels and a solar charger and stopped worrying about plugging into the grid. Came to find out later that this inverter does not play well with certain types of GFCIs. That info was nowhere in the manual either. I spent hours researching about grounded neutrals and trying to find one that did not exist, because that's what Xantrex's tech support pointed me towards. I should also mention the inverter smoke checked itself shortly after I installed it. There was a large char mark on the negative side of the battery cable terminal. Yes, it was torqued properly. I called customer service and they had a new one to me in just two days. I installed the new one and it is running fine to this day (Feb 2019). I should also mention that I've been full-timing since September. So it's been close to 6months of continual problem free use. I bought the external/remote panel since this is mounted away in a cabinet that would be difficult to routinely access. I must remark that the interface on this is about as technological as a 1980s Casio watch. As a part of my electrical system overhaul, I also installed a Victron solar charger and battery monitor. I can monitor and manipulate the Victron products via a free bluetooth app by Victron. But the inverter that cost nearly twice as much as the Victron products combined has an interface that must be wired and, in general, disappoints. The AC terminals on this inverter are terrible to attach your 10/3 wire to. I called tech support on this one also, and the English language does not have the words necessary to describe how to do this. There's even a video on Youtube that attempts to demonstrate how to do this. But it's tough for a camera to capture. In the end you have to use a ridiculous amount of force to get the wires in while also not snapping the AC terminal off the board, while also working at a very challenging angle. Good news is, once the copper is in, it will probably never come out. I also looked at the Magnum products. I was impressed by what I saw. But Magnum seems to be doing nothing to advance their products, while Xantrex did appear to be advancing their products. I also hated to buy Chinese. But at the end of the day, the cost savings from purchasing the Xantrex allowed me to keep my project costs below $2,500 (to include 4x100W PV panels, Xantrex inverter, Victron MPPT solar charger, Victron battery monitor, 2 x Trojan T-105REs and all the necessary wiring, fuses and hardware). ***Update December 2020-Still working the same as it was when I installed it over 2 years ago. Also seems to be doing a good job of keeping batteries topped off without slow cooking them and reducing their lifespan. ... show more

  • Awesome high quality Inverter Charger
Style: Power Inverter
Installed this in my toy hauler to replace the factory float charger and to provide 120vac for some appliances when not on shore power. The multistage charger charges the batteries fast and automatically goes to float once charged. It easily provides enough inverter power to make coffee with our Keurig and also runs the microwave and TV. The display is easy to read and keeps you informed of the status or inputs and battery. So far we love it. I expect it to last years based upon the quality and design. It is critical to follow the instructions and to use the proper AWG of wire especially to the batteries. It will not work if you try and get away with thinner AWG wire than what they recomend. ... show more

  • Bigger is better
Style: Power Inverter
Replace factory 1200w with this one. Used factory installed remote monitor. Didn’t buy the Bluetooth remote to replace mine as I have no reason to adjust the settings frequently. Programming it at mounting point one time is just fine. A little harder than smaller one as it needed to be mounted sideways to fit in same space. I added a small sub panel as I added another feed circuit [coffee, toaster and microwave circuit) to the inverter ... show more
