The only reason I don't give it five stars is because you can't stretch it out to a location that the hose becomes once the water is turned on BEFORE the water is on. It does have a shut-off valve, so it's not a terrible inconvenience, but still annoying in certain circumstances. I've stretched it, twisted it, pinched it between gates, etc., and it seems to be holding up well. I love how long it gets. It's very light and easy to deal with. In the past, Keeping garden hoses from tangling and kicking was a major production. This hose is lightweight and easy to work with. I am disappointed however that it will not work with a sprinkler, which is 90% of my need of a hose. I shut off the valve, attached to a standard hose, turned water on to fill hose to the shut off. Then opened valve. It worked for 10 seconds and then quit. I don't know why it won't work? ... show more

I’ve tried several different expanding hoses, and this one is by far my favorite. It truly shrinks down small and compact, unlike some other brands. It doesn’t take forever to drain the hose and shrink it back down after shutting off the water source. I have it hooked up to the spigot inside my townhouse garage, so it’s never outside exposed to the elements, so I can’t speak to durability, but it suits my needs (watering flower pots, washing car, or hosing down the garage floor) perfectly. ... show more

    • Don't buy this if you use mulch in your landscape!

I like this hose because it does not kink and is lightweight. However, it does have one super annoying feature. The outside of the hose is covered with little threads, and they are constantly snagging mulch and small yard debris. Before I can roll it up I have to pick all the chunks of mulch out of the threads and it is a major pain. If you have much in your landscape beds I would not recommend buying this hose! ... show more

I love the X-Hose! I've tried many retractable hoses and this one is by far the best! I haven't had any trouble at all with it. It's so easy to use. Lightweight and retractable! I got one for my front yard, and I liked it so much that I bought another one for the back. Both are 100 ft.

I purchased a quality metal ($20) nozzle for this hose and the items are incompatible. When the nozzle is threaded onto the hose there is insufficient clearance to operate the ON/OFF valve on the hose. The male thread section of the hose needs to be 1/4" longer. This is a wonderful 50 foot hose. Very lightweight and easy to use. My spray nozzle works very well with it. My only criticism is that the last one only lasted 2-3 years, then it sprung a leak close to the end of the hose that attaches to the spigot. I live in a very sunny/hot climate. I almost always remove my hose after using it and store it away out of the sun, in hopes of helping it last longer. This has also happened with a 100 foot hose that I purchased 2-3 years ago. I have replaced that one as well. The convenience and ease of use is the trade-off for longevity, and I don't think I'll ever go back to the heavy, traditional garden hose. ... show more
