We bought four of these for our composite deck. The information went buying did not talk about composite wood. It only talked about regular wood or concrete. We ended up pre-drilling the composite with a proper size drill and then using the screws that came with it and all is well. If we use the drillbit that came with it for a wood deck, the screws did not work and got stuck into it so you will have to get a bigger drill bit to take care of those holes. After we did that installation was relatively easy. It is important to make sure you have enough room on the lower step of the deck to install the bottom post. We had room on the top part of the deck to make sure that we had plenty of room. Double check that you have all of the parts that are not enclosed in plastic as the caps that go over the lower part of the post when you’re finished with the job, we’re missing from one of the boxes, and the only way to remedy that problem was to order another one. Take the parts I want and send the rest back. ... show more

I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were no missing parts, all hardware required, including the masonary bit, were included.. assembly was pretty straightforward and I am pleased with the results. As far as durability, etc, that remains to be seen.. so far, so good..

The rails and brackets are of decent quality. Only time will tell if the powder coated paint will stick to the metal. The included concrete anchors are pure trash! I didn't even attempt to use them because they are doomed to fail...I'm pretty handy at construction projects, but this project was still a little tricky. It's time consuming trying to align the holes before drilling into the concrete. A HAMMER drill is required to do this job. The included drill bit seems to be of low quality, so I bought a new concrete bit and concrete wedge type anchors. This project could soon become a pain in the neck so make sure and use your own supplied fasteners. Otherwise, you will have to start all over with a different set of problems. You will have to relocate the base position if you mess up...Finally, the base caps of made of cheap plastic and take away from the overall appearance of the finished product. For the price point, you can have a decent handrail if you carefully plan your project. ... show more
