While all AA batteries will take decent daytime images and daytime videos, the nighttime camera performance will suffer, or not work at all when using AA batteries that have a voltage less than 1.5 volts. So this rules out both Ni-Cd (nickel-cadmium) and NiMH (nickel metal hydride) rechargeable AA batteries. And one-time use alkaline AA batteries, and even the Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries, so highly touted by some customers here, will experience a critical voltage drop-off halfway through its charge, well below the required 1.5 volts, again adversely affecting the night time camera performance and losing valuable opportunities to record nighttime action and events. Note: There's no battery state of charge indicator on the Wosports G100 trail camera. So mark on your calendar and replace/recharge batteries every 3 months or whatever the general lifespan of your charged batteries are. The only AA batteries that work with this excellent trail camera are the new technology 1.5-volt rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. They're generally marketed and sold in sets of four AA batteries plus a convenient 4-cell charger, all for usually about $ 25.00 - $ 30.00, with free shipping. My AA lithium-ion rechargeable batteries are actually a Lithium/Iron Disulfide (Li/FeS2) chemistry, and boast a 3400 mWh (= 2267 mAh) capacity for each AA battery. Note: These new AA lithium-ion rechargeable batteries can only be recharged in chargers that are specific to the brand name, and are included in most 4-packs at a modest charge (only about $ 3.00 extra), so it's false economy to risk an explosion or fire from using conventional battery chargers. Most of these 4-cell lithium-ion chargers come with a standard A-type USB to C-type USB cable, but no required 5VDC power source. A standard 5-volt A-type USB charging jack is required, with a recommended 2 Amp charging capacity. Enough said about batteries. I have used other cameras and have one now that cost twice as much as the one but this one takes just as good of still shots and the more expensive one. Runs forever on 4 batteries, doesn't require 8 like most cameras. Simple and easy to set up and i really like the small compact size. Just wish it had a battery level indicator but I used it all season last year on one set of batteries and just turned it on and it started taking pictures this year without missing a beat. Really good camera for the money.

I could give this camera a 5 rating if it were not for the instruction booklet. So many of these foreign products have such poor English in their instruction booklets. There are misspellings and many grammatical errors. As I went through the set up procedure the instructions were out of order with the depicted screens. Please get someone to properly translate the manual and save yourself some embarrassment. I have some experience with these cameras, so I was able to guess what I needed to do. Beyond that, the camera has been rained on and survived fine. It takes pictures as I set it up to do. It is a very good basic camera that is worth the price. It does what I need it to do. ADDED: 11/20: There seems to be a long delay of over a second from when it senses movement to when the video starts. I get a lot of videos of either nothing or the animal just leaving the frame. I have a lot of two second videos of deer butts. It is a bit funny when the clip starts with an animal in the middle of the frame looking around. Where did it come from? The videos are limited to Ten Seconds only, so I seldom get to see all I want to see. I am left wondering, "where did it go?" The pictures are sharp and well, lit, it is just slow to respond. Most critters can move fast when spooked. Finally, there seems to be a delay between videos. If video 1 ends with the animal just sitting there, why is there no video 2 of it moving on?

I buoght this and set it up right below an older camera. The first time I checked the cameras (both were set up with brand new batteries) my old camera took 80 pictures and this one took 20. The next time this one took none and has continued to take none. I don't even have a picture of myself on the camera after walking out to the target area on the trail where the camera is pointed. It's set up in a slightly shady area, so the sun is not shining right on it. It is completely useless. A waste of time to set up and a total waste of money. Glad it was cheap, but still should have taken some pics. Also does not come with the SD card. Go buy anything else! I don't often give low stars, and even less frequently give 1 star, but this one gets the worst product I've purchased in a long time award.

Generally works OK, video quality is good, seems to be weathertight, but reaction time is slow to start the video recording, which often results in only getting a glimpse of the subject.
