  • Very good quality, wish I could justify keeping it
Style: 640-35 Laser Rangefinder
This unit is very cool - I was underwhelmed by the image quality of the night vision and consistency of the thermal, but I will state that I did not read the manual and this is most likely user error, so I'm leaving this at 5 stars to not inadvertently punish DNT. The OLED screen in the unit is beautiful. Menus are always one of the most difficult design choices, and I didn't like the menu, but I'm not sure that there are better options, it's just a lot to control with a few physical buttons. The feature that impressed me most may have been the speed of the image transfer from the sight to the mobile app. I did not see any lag at all as I moved the sight around. I never mounted mine because I decided to return it, but that was due to the realization that I already put more focus on keeping my things looking new than most people. Having such an expensive sight would stress me out to no end. It also was more toy than tool for me. DNT supplies two Samsung lithium cells. Samsung is one of the most reputable brands for these with some of the highest storage density, which is nice to see. Many companies provide whatever cheap cell they find from China - good job DNT. The only real fault I could find with this is that it already has a USB C port for data transfer, why does this not include a small charging circuit so you don't have to remove the cell for charging? It also means keeping the charger, whereas charging, even slowly, via USB is likely sufficient for most. In all fairness, this thing is hefty (check the weight if that's a concern) and maybe they simply could not pack another IC on the board, but it seems like low hanging fruit that would make for a better user experience with a sight that you'd remove after use anyway (meaning you wouldn't be leaving a gun out). ... show more

Style: 640-35 Laser Rangefinder
The DNT ThermNight 650R is an amazing thermal scope that combines advanced features like a lrf and ballistic calculator, making it an excellent choice for hunters. Its clarity and precision, especially in low-light conditions, Picture in Picture is absolutely valuable for tracking targets. It has digital day scope - clear as day picture, IR scope and IR torch and a thermal scope all in one package. Excellent value spent. My 650 detects moths flying at 15 yards with the thermal scope in pitch black night. Easily detects thermal images in white hot and black hot those are my favorites. Battery is good for about 6 hours and you can easily pop in the second battery and don’t forget the one touch standby mode. I also run an extended battery externally w C charging cord. pics included deer for viewing only. No shots taken ... show more

  • Wow wow wow
Style: 640-35 Laser Rangefinder
I just received it. Played with it for a few hours. Now, it seems like it’s a steep learning curve however I had it all figured out in 30 mins. Definitely pays off to read the manual and watch a few videos. Anyway. I’M BLOWN AWAY. For $3k you get an incredible piece of gear. It blew my head off its hinges. NV, thermal, ballistic calc, ranging. Various color modes, IR torch. This thing has it all. I barely charged batteries I was so excited to try it out and I wasn’t disappointed. Incredible how much they packed into this thing. I didn’t even have a chance to mount it on my rifle yet. I just used it to scan around. Anyway, I’m really impressed so far. What a mind blowing experience this thing has been so far… ... show more

  • Do Not Buy From This Company
Style: 640-35 Laser Rangefinder
I bought this TNC635R solely because of the RAR, Recoil Activated Recording. It was great initially on a 6.5 Grendel AR platform pig hunting. It even worked on the .223 AR. Shortly after the RAR function quit working intermittently and then completely. I sent it in for repair and they sent it back and said it met their specifications and the problem was the gun didn't have enough recoil to activate it. I told them it worked initially and also my DNT225R works flawlessly on the gun. (the cheaper version I bought to test it before I bought the better one) I sent it in again for repair at their request and they said there indeed was a problem. They said they didn't have a new one to send me they were on backorder and sent it back to me to use and they would fix it through a firmware update. Three months later and promise after promise I am still sitting here with a non functional $3K plus device. ... show more

  • Sophisticated and capable but issues! App has ZERO functionality.
Style: 640-35 Laser Rangefinder
CS is great. Instant response in real time to questions and queries. 1. Compared to most this is a complicated and sophisticated unit. It's not like other thermals, DNV (digital night vision) units that you can just put a battery in and start scanning. It has a quick start guide to get you connected (but that really doesn't matter, more later) to the app via the built in Wi-Fi. It is after all a NV and thermal with LRF and IR illuminator all in one package. You won't pop this out of the box and start using it like a pro in 5 mins. 2. A QD mount is NOT included, 2 different "hard mounts" which require the use of the (included) t-30 torx Allan wrench are. A 0 MOA and 20 MOA. What's the point of the necessity of a tool to swap the expensive optic between weapons? I was told that their mounts withstand up to .50 BMG recoil, or the Optics smashing recoil of a SCAR17. A fair point, but I like versatility. So, bing, another 100 for a throw lever mount. Because I like being able to pop my thermals onto a tripod and operate them remotely. Stick them out of the sunroof and drive around so you don't freeze, or watch an area with the optic set up on the porch while you're inside using the tablet to view. (more later) 3. The batteries are top notch with both showing super low internal resistance on my sophisticated charger. The charger included is just blinky lights. So, cheapo charger, excellent quality batteries (2 incl) space in the case for 5. 4. Comes in a really nice pelican case. With model of device printed on top. A data transfer cord and charging pigtail for the cheapo charger. Space for the optic, the eye-accordion, both mounts and batteries. A really nice touch. 5. Optics quality is pretty great. The mode swap between NV and thermal with 1 button is the stuff dreams are made of. I've been waiting for this optic feature set for years. Ever since I got into thermals. EVERYTHING has parameters. I'd spend the next hour describing all the features on this optic and still forget something. It's really really cool. 6. Now the bad part, and the part which may sink the usefulness of this optic for me. As I previously stated, I like using these devices as remote viewers to watch my chickens and protect them from predation, to drive around and pan/scan looking for wildlife. But that doesn't matter, because the APP, has ZERO usefulness. (what?) Yep, on this device and all the other Thermnight optics, you get a "live view" of the main view and the PIP...and THAT'S ALL. No functions available. I even bought a new tablet to run DNTs app on, because my old tablet was still running Android 7 and DNTs app is not suitable for an operating system version that is 8+ years old. No zoom, No pallette change, No brightness/contrast, no NUC, no ability to capture pics or video via the app. Nothing. (all of these functions INCLUDING the laser rangefinding function on those optics so equipped, are available on the AGM app. Had I known when I got this expensive optic, that everything would have be to done manually, with the myriad assortment of buttons on the optic, with it jammed up against my eye, every single time, I would've passed and waited for a more useful version of optic or app to emerge. Or perhaps AGM would've introduced a multi-spectral rifle-worthy optic. I was dumb. Now I really don't know what I might actually use this for. Since EVERY picture must be taken via the 7 button array on top, and physically wired to a computer and downloaded manually. I'd love to show you, the reader, the optical quality and cool thermal/NV switching, ranging etc...but why? It would take me an hour to go out, capture pics and vids, with eye up against the dang optic, punching the wrong buttons since they each do like 6 different things, and then come home and see which ones actually show anything nice, and plug it into the computer like it's 2010. The more I dwell on this the more frustrated I become. Hopefully, DNT addresses this shortcoming. The app MAKES the optic work better, more conveniently and in a more versatile fashion. At this point I have a really cool, very sophisticated OPTIC which is the future with an APP, and ability to use the optic, which is stuck in the past. My return window is long past, and so I'm stuck with it. I should've asked more question. ... show more
