I know we've come to expect low prices on goods made in China due to the low cost efficiency of Chinese manufacturing, but it still amazes me how inexpensive things can get. For the currently discounted price of about $17, you get three red-anodized machined aluminum slide rules with both metric and imperial scales (one on either side). The slides are also made of machined aluminum and secured in place by two thumb screws - it seems excessive until you realize there are two for added stability/alignment. I checked the measurement markings against a known-good metric and imperial ruler and they are spot-on. The slides also easily slide off for reversal or if you want to use just the rulers (apart from the sliders). You can also double up the slides on a single rules for additional uses such an adjustable stop-block, etc. The measurement markings are in clean white paint, which against the red ruler isn't the easiest thing to read (not like white on black) but still adequately readable. My ONLY ding for these rulers is that the measurement scale is painted-on and not etched - so only time will tell if they are abrasion or wear resistant. I did not subtract a star for this, however, because I've purchased more expensive rulers that lacked etched scales, and at this price point I don't think it's fair to expect it. The rulers themselves are also decently thick (I didn't measure but they're about the thickness of 2 credit cards) and there is 0 flex. I wouldn't throw them unprotected into a heavy toolbag, however, because they're not spring steel and like all aluminum, once they're bent, they're never going to be perfect again. Just treat them right and you'll be fine - they feel like they can take little abuse. If you have the storage space, the box they came in is pretty flat and has recessed foam inserts to keep them perfectly stable and protected. All-in, a nice addition to my woodworking measurement and marking tools and at a price point that is tough to beat. I'd certainly buy them again.
