  • Love this machine!
Wait, what?? Exercise that’s fun? Yes, please! The delivery was right on time, super easy to put together and a blast to use. For the first time in a very long time I am looking forward to my workouts because it’s so enjoyable but challenging. Plus, I get to see places that I will likely never get to visit- bonus! Well worth every penny- sturdy, quiet... and did I mention fun?? 😉 ... show more

  • was great for a while...
I've had this rower for just under a year, but I don't think it's going to last a full year. It was great for the first 9 months or so, but then it started to show signs of rapid degradation. I started to hear a "clunk" every time I took a stroke, but it seemed to still operate fine so I continued to use it. Then I started to hear a screech and shortly thereafter the sensor stopped working (the only thing that continued to function was timer, the rep counter, distance tracker, etc were all non-functional). I'm pretty handy so I opened up the case and discovered (as I suspected) that one of the magnets that activates the sensor had fallen off the flywheel. So I glued it back in place and the sensor started functioning again and everything was good for about a week (although the "clunk"s continued). Then the "clunks" started to multiply and now it clunks 3 times for every stroke I take and the ropes have stopped retracting all the way and additionally sometimes they let go when I pull on them so I jolt backwards as I take the stroke. Having had it apart to fix the magnet for the sensor I suspect that the axel the flywheel is on is warping and will soon fail or dislodge, at which point the entire unit will be worthless (not that it's even useable right now, it feels rather dangerous to use it given how prone it is to letting me unpredictably fall backward). Granted I use this rower quite frequently (10k meter sessions several times a week) but I would expect it to last more than a year, especially given the cost (I paid a the full price, not the heavily discounted price that is now available -- my guess is that they're trying to unload them because of quality issues). I got this one because it had separate sides instead of one strap in the middle, which I really liked, but with total failure in less than a year I would not recommend anyone purchase this, find something higher quality (I know I will). I don't know what company actually manufactures these because they're just branded with the Men's/Women's Health brand (surely they don't actually manufacture these) but I'd like to find out to avoid their inferior products in the future. Wish I could get my money back on this one, but I guess I should've been more cautious of buying something that's rebranded, even if it has a cool/unique feature. Update—I was unable to repair the rower and ended up sending it to the landfill. I have since purchased a new rower from a much more reputable brand and I’ve learned that even when this rower was new and working as expected the quality was low! It was my first rower and I didn’t have anything to compare it to. The smoothness and solidity of my new rower was never there in this one and comparatively the workouts are much better on the new rower, this one tricked me into thinking I was getting a higher level of workout but after comparing to the new rower and another one in a gym that I tested for comparison, those were much better workouts. This rower is just an expensive toy that will break. ... show more

  • The ONLY consumer level rower with dual motion
I got this rower to be able to do Kayak ergo work. Most Kayak Ergs are quite expensive, or DIY things with old Nordictracks. Ironically, I HAVE an old Nordictrack, but didn't want to chop it up. This rower has "dual motion" meaning your arms are not linked - the only rower of it's kind. I was about to order two water rowers and try to cobble them together. This was better. The one weird thing is that there is but one flywheel, so if you pull hard with one arm, then the other, the second arm will be slightly easier; still, this is a minor quibble. I intend to attach some Tundra or Vive trackers to a Kayak handle I made and do VR paddling. If only Phantom: Covert Ops VR wasn't Quest only ... darn you Quest for being platform specific! The Kaya handle is easy to make - you take the two single handles they give you, get some threaded rod, and a short piece of PVC tubing, two fender washers and a couple of nuts, and attach the two handles together. They snap into the rower cables, and you can practice your Kayaking for a lot cheaper than a Kayak specific ergometer. == John == ... show more

  • Just what I needed to exercise and to build my stamina.
I’m 73 and this is an awesome piece of equipment! Easy to assemble, and the instructions were simple and understandable. I’m now building my stamina and getting the exercise I really need. I have a rather sketchy back problem and this is perfect for me. Nothing negative to report after two weeks of use. It is a solid machine at a great price and value! ... show more

  • Worth it!
I struggled a bit at first when assembling it. They connected the pulley system together for shipping and the pulleys wouldn’t allow me enough slack to separate. I am happy with the assembled machine. I am 55, very overweight, and haven’t exercised in a while. I started with the lowest tension and managed to get through 15 minutes my first go round. I worked up a sweat and believe this machine will help me get stronger and lose weight. ... show more
