  • Versatile Machine!!!
I love that this machine has two independently moving arms! I am a kayaker and this feature allows me to train a single arm pull with a little trunk rotation. However, the machine is mostly used for traditional rowing motion. There are two "cons" to owning this machine: 1.) Assembly: This took some time and one of the screws that is meant to secure the end cap behind the seat area could only fit in half way (this isn't an important part so I can live with it) AND I had to sand down the hole that helps pin in the arm that holds the monitor. The bolt was too large to fit through. This was a little frustrating but doable. 2.) Range of Motion: Your hands can't reach past your toes to get a full range of motion. This issue is magnified when you clip in the alternate hand grips. Overall, we really enjoy using this machine and don't regret our purchase! We still get a great workout every time. If you're training for some type of rowing event you may want to splurge on a machine with better range of motion. ... show more

  • I love this style of rower......but.....
The media could not be loaded. I love this design of rower, I do not like the traditional rowers you would see in a gym. I started off with a cheap piston resistance and after wearing that out in about 3 months I decided to upgrade to a more quality rower with higher resistance as the pistons really fall off once you get them warmed up. I like that this has an app that will track your work outs as well, and it senses the efforts you're inputting and that is reflected in the results. I haven't tried using the hand grip attachments as of yet, so I can't speak to those yet but it's also because I just enjoy the rowing arms. The video demonstration doesn't clearly show this but the arm's are dual independent arms they have full range of motion they don't just push and pull like they use them in the demonstration video. I like to do my return with wide arms and I pull with closer hands or about shoulder width to activate more shoulders. Something else you cannot tell from the video is the noise that the machine makes, I added a video to show that it's actually much noisier than you can tell from their video since they're just blasting music to drown it out. The noise isn't obnoxious and would be expected based on the rower design but this is just a heads up that it is much louder than you would anticipate based on their demonstration videos. Overall I wish I could give this 5 stars, however I have one major concern.....If you see the pic attached you can see that there are black specs on the rail, this is from the seat rollers. The seat is firmly installed and has tiny bit of wiggle room as indicated is needed in the manual, however there are times while rowing where the ride is completely smooth and then other times where it feels like riding over gravel. I have made sure there is no debris on the rail, I have made sure the seat is installed properly per the instruction manual and still have the issue. This is HIGHLY concerning to me since the seat is an integral part of this machine and this is a lot of money to spend on something to have the seat rollers deteriorating within the first month of usage. I'm hoping that at a minimum WHEN not if I wear this out will I be able to get a replacement seat or will I have to buy a whole new unit? Because of the mentioned issues with the seat I have to take away one star as it makes me question the longevity, durability, and quality of the product. All of that taken into account with the price tag I have to drop it one more star as you do not spend this much money on a piece of equipment to receive a poor quality seat with degrading rollers. I use this machine daily and will update this accordingly if needed. ... show more

  • The ONLY consumer level rower with dual motion
I got this rower to be able to do Kayak ergo work. Most Kayak Ergs are quite expensive, or DIY things with old Nordictracks. Ironically, I HAVE an old Nordictrack, but didn't want to chop it up. This rower has "dual motion" meaning your arms are not linked - the only rower of it's kind. I was about to order two water rowers and try to cobble them together. This was better. The one weird thing is that there is but one flywheel, so if you pull hard with one arm, then the other, the second arm will be slightly easier; still, this is a minor quibble. I intend to attach some Tundra or Vive trackers to a Kayak handle I made and do VR paddling. If only Phantom: Covert Ops VR wasn't Quest only ... darn you Quest for being platform specific! The Kaya handle is easy to make - you take the two single handles they give you, get some threaded rod, and a short piece of PVC tubing, two fender washers and a couple of nuts, and attach the two handles together. They snap into the rower cables, and you can practice your Kayaking for a lot cheaper than a Kayak specific ergometer. == John == ... show more
