Other than the broken heating element looks to be adequately made. There is no easy way to to remove the metal scald guard to gain access to the element / bulb area.

Light was a little smaller than I expected, but that falls on me as I am horrible at imagining measurements. And while it might be small its throws out some amazing heat! I am trying this our for our dairy goats so I loved the fact it came with chain for hanging! When I first unpacked it and plugged in it failed to come on. Checked the bulb and it had shifted slightly out of place in shipping. No problem with snapping it back in place and then it worked perfectly! So if your unit does not come on at first check the bulb before assuming the unit is no good. If it works well this winter I will be replacing all my traditional heat lamps with this type. I just really like it a lot. There are only two things I would change on then. 1 The switch being a little closer to the unit than the plug. After hanging it I am finding it a bit of a stretch to reach the switch. 2 I would like to see the guard coming out a little more from the unit to prevent fire in the event that it falls in bedding. But on the other hand if you hang it with the chains it should not fall down for any reason. I have searched trying to figure out what type of bulb it takes with no luck yet. Next step is contacting the seller to see if they will be offering replacement bulbs. I am really in hopes they due because the price on this unit is amazing.

What I actually ordered this for was to put in my old garage that has a little kitty door for stray kitties to stay. It gets freezing cold here and someone has to keep the kitties warm..why not me? I've never had a bulb like this before…only standard heat lamps. They give off a little heat but not nearly enough to serve the purpose that I need. So I went with this on a whim! Luckily, I was shocked Not necessarily by the amount of heat but how quickly it heats. It's literally hot as soon as you turn it on. How's that even possible? And yes, it's very warm! My only concern is safety because it gets so warm. There's a grill on the front to keep any large objects out. Obviously you have to put it high enough so animals can't touch it. But what if some bedding or hay/straw somehow gets in there? It seems like that could be a problem? I just watch it close and have detectors….but I can see why some wouldn't like it for this reason!

After a late crop of tomatoes following a terrible season I wasn't about to let my plants die in the cold weather so I set about building a makeshift greenhouse around them. At first I just needed a little bit of heat for cooler temps so I put in some quartz work lights I had around the shop. After doing some research I found out plants need time to rest too and the bright lights could be too much for them. I started looking at my options and found this heat light. It's been great! I keep it on 24/7 as it puts out a lot of heat with only a little light. With our temps hitting at and below freezing I've since had to add heaters but feel confident this alone would keep them from dying for a night should my heaters kick a breaker or something. Great product. Great value.
