This pool cover works well for us. We did do some modifications. It's basically a round tarp. The cable system that comes with it is not really good and does not function as one might think. We use it to keep tension on the cover, but I also use bungee cords to hook in the eyelets of the cover down to the bottom of the pool. I have 6 of these bungee cords. This also helps keep the cover on when we get high winds in our area. I'm giving it 5 Stars because based on the price, free shipping, etc, it's not really a bad deal and fits our main needs, which was to keep grass clippings and dust out since we live near a field while not using the pool. If you want a nicer option, then you definitely need to search or pay higher prices. ... show more

I recently had the misfortune of purchasing the Winter Block WC18R Aboveground Pool Winter Cover, and I can confidently say it's been a complete disaster from day one. This so-called "winter cover" is more like a recipe for frustration and disappointment. Here's a scathing review of my dreadful experience: 1. Poor Quality Materials: The quality of this cover is shockingly low. It feels as though it's made from the flimsiest material available, more akin to a trash bag than something that should protect your pool throughout the winter. 2. Inadequate Size: Despite being advertised as an 18-foot cover, it barely covers my 16-foot aboveground pool. It's like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, and the edges flap around like a loose flag in the wind. 3. Weak Construction: The stitching and overall construction of the cover are abysmal. It's like they used dental floss to hold it together. I had to reinforce several seams to prevent the cover from falling apart. 4. Useless Tie-Downs: The included tie-downs are an exercise in futility. They snap, break, or come undone with even the slightest breeze. It's like trying to secure your cover with wet spaghetti – utterly useless. 5. Poor Drainage Design: The design of this cover makes it sag in the middle, creating a water pool instead of preventing it. It's like a rainwater reservoir that threatens to collapse under the weight, potentially damaging your pool. 6. Total Lack of Durability: If you expect this cover to withstand the harsh winter elements, think again. It's more likely to give in to the first gust of wind or snowfall. We bought this to use for winter of 2024/2025. It worked great and this spring we took it off and threw it out. Based on reviews that is what many others are doing. We previously paid 3 times this price and although it was supposed to last 5 years it was junk after 2 years. We don’t feel bad about throwing this one out after 1 winter!
