Good solid brass bars, no rust from plated steel. Bought multiple bars for Mom's shower and were easy to install in non-tile walls. Just find studs, measure and level then drill holes. Good solid mount, though I don't think an elderly 95 Lb. woman is going to strain them much. Only gripe is the holes in the mounting plates were not clocked well. I had to loosen and rotate to allow a driver to screw in all three fasteners easily. I recommend using a sealant like DAP on the holes before fastening. ... show more

This is probably not to spec for ADA-type approval as a grab bar--most seem to be 1-1/4 diameter bars while this is more like 1". But the escutcheon (mount) is smaller than the larger grab bars, about 2" in diameter rather than 3" for most others. That allowed me to install it in a narrow strip of wall and avoid having to drill through bath tile. It's plenty stout for the task. It's not like any user is hanging onto it for dear life, anyway; these are more for a light assist or maintaining balance . Only graded down one star because the instructions that come with the bar are not applicable. They are for installing a towel bar, which is an entirely different system. Didn't confuse me (except to wonder how the maker could be so oblivious), but it's sloppy, erroneous customer support that might baffle some folks. ... show more
