    • Fingerprint reader can be improved but Customer Service is Great!

It's clear why this product has earned a 5-star rating despite some challenges encountered. Initially, the handle setup instructions were unclear, but customer service quickly provided a helpful video that simplified the process. To save time, it would be beneficial to include this video with the initial instructions. Be sure to check out the video on Amazon for additional guidance. Once installed, the lock appeared to function properly, including the fingerprint reader. However, on the following day, the fingerprint reader experienced inconsistencies and even locked out a few times. After reaching out to customer service, several solutions were attempted, such as deleting and rescanning fingerprints and adding multiple profiles for each finger. Unfortunately, these efforts did not resolve the issue. In response to these concerns, customer service promptly sent a replacement product without requiring the return of the original lock. Upon receiving the new lock, I performed thorough tests on the fingerprint reader before installing it on my door. The lock functioned well during testing; however, after a couple of days post-installation, the same fingerprint reader issues resurfaced. After contacting customer service once more, they empathized with the frustration and offered a full refund without requiring me to return either lock. Although the fingerprint reader has room for improvement, SMONET's customer service is exceptional. They consistently went above and beyond to assist and address concerns, never hesitating to find a suitable resolution. A special thanks to the customer service representative Hellen for their outstanding support. Aside from the fingerprint reader, the lock's other features such as the keypad, autolock, and app work remarkably well. Keeping just one finger or thumb registered seems to improve the fingerprint reader's performance. I bought a main door lock and it was in great packaging, neat and secured. The instructions were very easy to follow, and the installment was a very smooth process. I installed the lock in under 15 minutes. It was very easy to configure the lock to my phone, a great user friendly app. I have many people in my home and it accurately identified all of them, each person can set-up as many people and fingertips as they would like. Temporary password sharing and remote control was very easy to set-up. What can I say! The finish on the lock looks super high quality. Very easy to install. Only took 20-30 minutes including setting up the gateway. The finger scanner to me the best part! It’s nice to have the card readers tucked away somewhere just incase I need it. To have the ability to lock or unlock the door from anywhere is fantastic! Definitely recommend and would by again! The big box stores didn’t have anything close to this lock. Oh did I mention it talks to you. Whenever it’s locked or unlocked it will verbally tell you it’s locked! ... show more

I think the overall design of this lock is great, however I have had problems with the operation and reliability of the lock. First, the lock simply would not connect to the bluetooth dock. Only after resetting and re-attempting nearly a dozen times, finally for unknown reason, it finally connected and I cold manage it with the Smart Life app. Second, after adding fingerprints, cards, numbers to the profile member management, the number of times it failed to pick up my wife’s fingerprints numbered into the dozens. This was only after 24 hours of operation. I removed the fingerprints and tried again - once again the reader would pick up less than 25% of the time. Luckily the card reader works. Third, a fresh set of batteries last only 2 days before I get the notification to replace battery. OK, I thought maybe I just had a bad set and THIS was the reason for all the issues, despite showing 100% battery after initial set up. So I replace the Rayovac batts with brand new Energizer MAX. Seriously within 24 hours, its down to 65%! Lastly, after replacing the batteries, ALL of the saved member profile data was wiped and I had to re-enter all of the fingerprint etc data again. This would not be an issue if i know the battery would last for MONTHS, but doesnt seem to last more than a few days. This is ridiculous. I wish the product was reliable and robust, because I like the design. As this was replacing a front access door, I cannot recommend this product.
