  • THE BEST small capacity wine chiller on the market
Color: Black
I personally spent hours researching a good quality wine chiller that fits within the boundaries of our home. This is one of the quietest units you'll find on the market (thermoelectric units being vanishingly difficult to find) and so is great for use near living areas. We measured the sound level at ~40 decibels. The temperature holds steady and the unit doesn't generate excessive heat. Obviously, the caveat here is that the unit needs to be kept in an area around room temperature for proper functioning since thermoelectric units don't cool as aggressively as condensers. The ONLY downside is the storage capacity. It won't hold the advertised amount unless the bottles are all the thin/standard size. This however, is par for the course for these smaller-style units. Overall, if you're looking for a unit that will reliable hold ~12-15 bottles of varying sizes that's whisper quiet, this is your best bet by far. ... show more

  • A great choice
Color: Black
I waited a month of usage before writing my review, It was ready to use right out of the box. When my wine refrigerator died, after 5 years of use, I read the reviews of those presently topping the list on Amazon. Nothing seemed to stand out. I remembered seeing this one a few months ago and found it with its great reviews and was glad it was still in stock. It quickly reached my indicated temperature and has held it ever since. If I keep the door open for re-loading, the temperature rises, but quickly returns to my preset. I drink alot of French reds. The bottles all fit in the spaces-although some a a bit snug. The larger sparkling wine bottles just fit on the bottom. It has a clean, sleek design. The touch pannel is well placed, so that I don't change the tempevery time I open it. The interior light clearly light up the bottles. It runs silently. ... show more

  • Nice wine cooler
Color: Black
Very nice wine cooler for the money. The temp display on our unit is within a degree or so of accurate (I just allow for this in my setting) and the temp control seems to be consistent. The unit is very quiet and well behaved, it just sits there doing its job. My only complaint is that the racks are a tight fit so it is easy to tear up the wine labels as you get them in and out of the cooler (1 star off for this). Still, for the price I would definitely buy again. ... show more

  • Very good cooler for the money.
Color: Black
I have had this for more than two years, and it performs well, though most of my bottles are just sitting in it for much later use. Yes, it has some problems with fat bottles. Yes, it makes a slight hum but is relatively quiet. It is thermoelectric, which is important, since you do not want your wine to be shaken a bit for years, and it is an incredibly good deal from a company that makes some much more expensive coolers. I will probably get one or two more. This is best for storing red wine for long periods. ... show more

  • Whynter wine cooler works well enough if you can stand the irritating whirring noise.
Color: Black
We've only had this Whynter cooler a few days and so far it cools well and we like the features. Seriously on the negative side, though, is the constant humming noise that's emitted from the thermoelectric unit on the back side. To us, it's not a soft noise that disappears into the background like our refrigerator's fans in the kitchen. Instead, the noise is dissonant and irritating to the point we had to move the cooler from our old compressor type cooler's location in the living room to the den where it only irritates me when I'm on my computer. Good functionality is nice but we have to live with the whole package. I doubt our hearing is exceptionally sensitive; maybe this unit is an outlier from the norm but we sure didn't want to hear it all evening long in the living room. Will come back later and post further impressions over time... ... show more

  • Happy with my purchase (from someone who almost always suffers from buyers remorse)
Color: Black
After doing some research, I picked this as my first wine fridge. I needed a fridge that would last me through at least 1 move and 4 more years of school, and most reviews I found on different sites from people who bought the same model fridge said they'd been running without a problem for years. The fridge was well packaged, delivered by UPS with labels and packaging very clearly showing what was inside. No dents on the box. Easy to unpackage, and is very aesthetically appealing straight out of the box. The tint on the glass door is perfect- the interior is still visible-ish without the interior light on, so the fridge blends in perfectly with all my black shelving. Because I went with a thermoelectric fridge over a compressor, I decided against putting it in my (poorly-ventilated) kitchen, but besides the tiny read out for temp and the buttons, it's a fairly non-descript (and small, much smaller than I imagined) addition to my living room. And its very quiet. The noise it makes is a low hum, so once I got used to the new hum in my living room, it very easy to tune out. My humidifier makes more noise than the fridge (another score for thermoelectric!). My one gripe is that the racks inside aren't very accomodating for irregularly sized wine bottles. Of the 14 bottles I had to store, 4 couldn't fit in the standard shelving. I took one shelf out, but the rounded divets in the metal for bottles were too small for 1 bottle as well. I ended up putting 3 large bottles on the bottom shelf and stacking the 4th on top of that. It's only a gripe because it wasn't what I had planned, but I didn't deduct any stars because once the door is closed, the tinted glass doesn't show the stacked bottles. Just got it today, but will try to remember to update my review in 1 years time. Edit: 2yrs and 2 moves in and its still going strong. I have a dedicated thermometer/hygrometer in there to make sure the temp in the door is accurate, and it is. Very, very happy with my purchase. Of course, getting a wine fridge may mean getting more wines that you think you'll drink soon but you end up cellaring. But in this hypothetical situation, you may not have a place to cellar wines. So you may start looking for a "cellar fridge" so that the Whynter fridge can be for wines you plan on drinking soon. ... show more
