I was skeptical about buying this unit but it has proved to be a great ice maker. I got it 5 months ago and it is still working well. I followed the directions on the set up to the letter, and the next day the ice started flowing. We ran it at least 8 hours a day for 7 or so days to build up extra ice. It works better than the ice maker in our very expensive refrigerator. Ice is soft, no taste and I can fill the ice maker in the refrigerator and it will dispense just fine. Love the capacity too. I can make enough ice in one day to last a week for 5 ice loving people. Yes there is sound when the ice drops but its not loud, not that I sleep in the kitchen, but it wouldn't keep me up if i did! Yes, the ice melts if you don't bag it up after the basket is full, but it's not a hassle and really, what ice doesn't melt? Great product! Great size. Low noise. ... show more

    • A little noisier, but makes ice faster
This is our third ice maker. We use icemakers for about 5 months per year and our prior ice makers lasted 5-6 years, so I am hoping for the same out of this one. I picked this ice maker because it is a little taller, giving it a bigger capacity without a bigger footprint. The prior ice makers were nearly silent and used a computer-type fan to disperse the heat. This one uses a more powerful fan and compressor, making it sounds more like a mini refrigerator. It's not loud, but you may notice the noise if you are sitting nearby. In exchange for the extra noise, you get a new set of ice cubes every 5 minutes, which is faster than my prior ice cube makers. The ice cubes are also a little bigger/taller. Of course, the loudest sound is the falling ice, which is not any different for this or my past ice makers. If you have guests sleeping nearby on the couch, you'll want to turn this off at night. It comes with an ice scoop and the basket has a slot at the bottom to hold the scoop upright, so the scoop doesn't get buried in the ice. This year I was tempted by Amazon's add-on recommendation to buy an Osco ice scoop. However, the Osco scoop does not stand upright, and it gets buried under the ice if you leave it lying flat in the ice basket. Unless you have a nearby drawer to hold the scoop, I suggest sticking with the free scoop that comes with the ice maker. ... show more

My whole family loves this icemaker. We had it for a few days and all of us loved the ice and found it easy to use, compact under counter size. The clear ice bucket is so cute! The ice does last in the freezer well. We had a problem within the first week, but the company replaced it for us. So happy again! The unit is very easy to clean due to the removable lid and self clean cycle. This is a major improvement from my previous countertop unit. It's a little noisy, but pretty much on-par with every other countertop unit I've ever been around. The ice it makes is nice. The are small cubes around the same size as commercial nugget ice. However, they are more dense and less flaky than true nugget ice. They are still chewable and make great drinks, but if you're going to be disappointed if it's not exactly "Sonic ice" or Scottsman, then you should be aware of this. This is my first home nugget machine so I have nothing else to compare on this scale, only the commercial machines. It is constantly making ice as it melts immediately. I get up in the morning to fill my cup for the day and there is only a mostly melted pile. Unfortunately it's past the return date so I can't do anything with it.

Have been using for 2 weeks now. So far it’s great. Makes ice fast and when it melts it just goes back through. Ice can stay in bucket more than a day also. Fit nice on counter. Some reviews said “too noisy” but it doesn’t bother us. Happy to hear ice being made and dropping!!
