PIECE OF and they know it. Unbelievable that in 2025 a company the size of GE is putting out a product with such continued problems. Do not go into cleaning mode unless you’re ready to spend hours troubleshooting it yourself. It makes great ice until it glitches. Yes, I tried the 15+ suggestions on YouTube and FB and AI. There is NO reset (I tried what was recommended). It will make ice WITH the cleaning indicator flashing (make it make sense). No, the app isn’t any help - tried that as well. We sent back the previous version of this ice maker the day before the warranty was up (364 days). The second unit lasted 1-2 years, and then we had to throw it away because of the myriad of problems. We bought the 2.0 during Prime Days. So sad. Yes, we had to learn all of the tricks the first time around. Obviously, some people are able to make it work, which is great for them. It produces great ice WHEN IT WORKS. No, it’s not OE (operator error). I wish!! I’ve got two engineering degrees and have fixed dozens of devices and appliances for decades. It literally seems to be too “sensitive.” We got a Frigidaire unit and it is FLAWLESS. Gave it to our daughter and now we’re about to purchase one ourselves. Unless you’re a mechanical engineer and have serviced ice makers for a living, I highly recommend you pass on this. ... show more

I have been wanting to upgrade my ice maker for a long time and after many weeks of research, I found GE Profile Opal 2.0 Nugget Ice Maker. I got it from Amazon for a great deal during Prime Week. This ice maker is so quiet, I love it. The quality of the nugget ice is great for Iced lattes, sodas, and making cocktails. I always crave the Chick Fil A ice and this is identical to it. This is one fantastic ice maker! This was purchased on a recommendation from a friend. It stores a ton of water, makes a ton of ice, the ice is soft and chewable, and it does it fast! It's a little louder when you first turn it on but once the ice starts coming out it's very very quiet. I love the smart feature because I can have ice ready for when we wake up in the morning to fill our cups. You can set schedules to make ice you can use an app to make ice it's got a cool LED light to light it up. There's nothing that I dislike about this ice maker. Purchased 03/24 and writing review in 05/25. Pros: Makes ice fast; Perfect-sized nuggets; Extra water tank is essential when you have friends over; Easy to clean and maintain, which is essential for proper operation Cons: Can get noisey; Requires cleaning just about every 21-25 days, regardless of water type (tap, filtered, distilled); Does impact you electricity bill (but totally worth it). Overall: 5 stars...one of the best kitchen gadget purchases we have ever made. We have experimented with different water types to determine impact to overall operation, length of time between cleanings, and flavor of ice...all negligible. We just use tap water now, and gave up on the hassle of distilled water delivery. Pro tip - when it says to clean it, do it and don't wait. 4 cycles (1 with bleach, 3 without) takes an hour and keeps this thing purring along. ... show more

I waited and waited and read many reviews and finally bought this during prime deal days and I’m so glad I did! Some say it’s runs loud, but it doesn’t bother me. It’s in the kitchen, not my bedroom. I bought the XL tank and love everything about it. I was worried the ice would melt quick in my glass, but it doesn’t. Just buy it! Update 4 months later- I have a love hate relationship with this machine. I get “add water” multiple times a week (sometimes multiple times a day) even when the tank is full. I read online the water line can get air bubbles, so I have to lift the tank, open the drawer then shut it and hold tank for 30 seconds or so to get it going. Gets SO annoying. Cleaning is a pain. I’ve leaked so much water everywhere doing it. Finally this most recent time I think I got the hang of it. Lately machine has just shut off a few times. Ugh. Could be a melted ice mess if I hadn’t noticed. On the positive side, I still don’t think it runs “loud”. It’s in the kitchen so it doesn’t bother me at all. Update 6 months later- I completely removed the side tank. So much better and also easier to clean. We have a family of 4 and I only have to add water a few times a week. Much easier and also smaller and fits better in the corner of the kitchen with out the side tank. 18 month update- still going strong and still not using the side tank. I did have a squeaking issue but I googled it and found it needed to be completed defrosted. So I did that and let it sit over night and squeak went away! The scoop broke so I bought a nice metal one. But still overall glad I bought, we use it all day everyday! 19 month review- IT DIED!! Motor started getting VERY loud, my husband opened the back and said he could tell motor was toast. With in a few days it made a VERY loud noise and died. This machine WILL NOT LAST YOU! It makes me so sad because it was very expensive and I LOVED it while it worked. So I’m buying a cheapy $100 one because honestly none seem to last and I’ll just buy a new cheapy one every hear. Warranty is expired so this will sadly be going to a landfill ... show more
