I purchased this filter for one of my smaller 10 gallon tanks that houses shrimp and Endlers. I tend to lean towards over filtration on small tanks that hold a lot of shrimps and small fish. The flow is not powerful enough to push all of them around, even on full throttle and it filters a ton of water. I have this in my bedroom and cannot hear it at night even though its only feet away. I will recommend that if you intend to use this with shrimp or fish fry, you purchase a pre-filter sponge to stop little ones from getting sucked into the filter. ... show more

I have a 25/30 gallon tank that I couldn’t keep clean longer than 5 or 6 days. A friend recommended this and I am so glad she did. I turn it on low (can adjust how strong it filters, *very convenient*) while I’m at work and shut it off when I get home. We ordered this as we knew an old filter by topfin was dying. This quiet and extremely effective filter had water clean quite quick after some of the bottom soil was moved around. I would recommend this to other fish keepers!

Filter works well and it’s nice that you can adjust the speed. However, the unit is a little large and it’s not exactly compact. I had to trim the hood on my aquarium so that this could fit.

Honestly, this cheap thing shouldn't be the filter I find to be the most reliable. It's kind of like how McDonald's has no business making oatmeal that good. But it's the best oatmeal. And this is a great filter. Don't waste your money on pricey filters. Hey this instead
