  • Excellent product.
Size: 16 Ounce
Excellent lightener, this product works really well, lightens easily, left my hair feeling softer and healthier than it did prior to lightening. Also, the powder is white so you don't have to worry about it tinting the hair blue/Grey like many of the blue powders do. Comes in a bag inside the tub with measured scoop. This is my go-to #1 choice for lightener and it's always a decent price. I use the 32oz of color charm developer with this(I do half 30volume and the other half 20volume) mixes really well, gentle on hair, affordable, no complaints. ... show more

  • Great for removing dark dye, bad color,,or those wanting a gentle lightener
I used this with 30 volumes developer to take off a bunch of black dye from my ends, and it tuned my hair back to a slightly lighter than normal copper red. Perfect, and didn’t burn my hair off. Watch your timer and check the lift as you go along. It takes off even permanent dye.

  • When your inner unicorn won’t be silenced, you buy the tub.
I’ve been dyeing my hair since I was 12. I’m almost 40 now, and after decades of saying “I’ll never bleach again,” guess who ends up with $30 worth of tiny packets or some sad drugstore box bleach? Yep. Me. Every time. So recently I had a grown-up moment and finally decided to be smarter with my money. I bought the big 1lb tub of Wella ColorCharm Powder Lightener—because honestly, Wella has been one of my go-to brands for years, and buying the tub on Amazon is way cheaper than hitting up the beauty supply store like I used to in my reckless youth. I mostly use this for my “money piece”—you know, the part of your hair that screams look at me and gets a fresh fantasy color every few weeks. This bleach handles that job beautifully, lifting my dark brown (almost black) natural hair to a warm blonde in about 45–50 minutes. That red/yellow tone it leaves is perfect for the pinks, reds, and purples I usually use—it actually helps my fantasy colors pop. It also works well with other brand developers, but if you want smoother, more consistent results, I still recommend Wella’s developer. It just vibes better with the powder, like a good hair duo should. Of course, this is bleach—not a magic wand. It works best when your hair is in good shape. Trust me, I’ve ignored my own advice before and walked away with crunchy, straw-textured ends. That’s not Wella’s fault—that’s me thinking coconut oil can undo months of heat damage. (Spoiler: it can’t.) Pro tip: Mix it fresh, measure properly, and work in small sections. Bleach waits for no one. If one side of your head gets a 20-minute head start, rinse it first. All in all, this stuff delivers. It lifts reliably, doesn’t puff up like a science fair project, and hasn’t let me down. ... show more

  • Work pretty well !
I purchased the ColorCharm Powder Hair Lightener to bleach my hair, which had been previously dyed and had multiple layers of color. My hair is usually very difficult to lighten, especially after being dyed dark, so I was a little cautious going in. I was honestly impressed with how well this lightener worked. Even on pre-dyed hair that typically resists bleach, it lifted very effectively. I used two rounds from a small packet, and the results were even and noticeably lighter without completely destroying my hair, which is always a concern with bleaching. One thing I really liked is that it actually does what it claims—this is a solid option if you’re trying to pre-lighten hair that’s been colored before or has multiple shades. It saved me from needing a much stronger or harsher product. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who needs to lift stubborn, previously colored hair before applying a new color. The only reason I’m not giving a full 5 stars is because bleaching always comes with some dryness, but overall this product performed very well. I would confidently give this a strong 4 to almost 5-star rating and would consider using it again. ... show more

  • Great bleach
Size: 16 Ounce
I have a lot of thick, dark brown almost black hair with some greys, and use this with a 30 volume developer on my roots for about 45-50 mins or until I notice it’s pale blonde. I do it everyone month or two, and a container of this can last me a few months, but it depends on what I’m doing. I also want to mention that I add Hi Pro Pac’s Extremely Damaged Hair Repair Intense Protein Hair Treatment to my conditioner regardless of which bleach I’m using, so I’m sure this has helped my hair overall in some way. Fortunately it’s not as expensive as other brands, and it also lasts me a long time since I mix it half and half with conditioner. I recommend some kind of hair mask / treatment when bleaching, dying, and/or heat styling as they can be damaging over time. — Actual review — I’ve tried many different types of bleach throughout the years, but this one has definitely been the best powder lightener I’ve tried. Others didn’t work as fast, I’d have to go over my roots twice, they’d make my hair feel drier, and would be more gritty. This one works within the time it says it will for my dark hair, I’ve never had to double bleach even when going pale blonde, my hair still feels soft after, and the bleach is smooth when mixed. I’ve also used this bleach on black boxed / permanent black dyed hair a couple of times to get it light blonde, and it never got stretchy, even after a couple bleach baths on top of that. I still use it with 10 or 20 vol for bleach baths to remove temporary / demi-permanent / colorful hair dyes (Adore, Arctic Fox, Manic Panic, etc.) whenever I change my hair color, and it doesn’t damage my hair and make it stretchy like other bleaches can on pre-lightened hair. My favorite bleach is Ion’s Cream Lightener as I find it easier to use, the consistency is better, and it lightens a bit faster. That one’s not always in stock, but this Wella one is a super close second. I think what helps with this powder one though, is using a mini whisk to mix it up. It gives it a very smooth consistency similar to the cream lightener. I used to use other powder lighteners like L’Oreal Quick Blue, Clairol BW 2, Manic Panic, etc., but they left my hair stretchy and dry, especially when removing black boxed / permanent black dye (I’d flip flop between black hair, blonde, and colorful a lot). I’d try all these expensive treatments like Aphogee, Redkin, etc., and it just made it a costly hassle (still recommend the ahi Pro Pac one though!). Wella Color Charm’s Powder Lightener doesn’t leave my hair stretchy, frizzy, or super dry like the others, and I wish I used it instead of the cheaper ones from the start. I’d say try it if it’s within budget. It’s been much more gentle on my hair, has costed me less in the long run, and is a better product overall. Everyone’s hair is different and we might use it differently, so it could be amazing for me but not for someone else. If you can try it, go for it, but be careful regardless since it’s still bleach and can cause damage. ... show more
