  • Best fit for Toyota Sienna van
Style: 2 Bike Rack Upgrate with Lock
Tried out 2 other bike racks to go into new 2" hitch on van, only this one with the 90 degree turn up elevated the racks and mounted bikes to a good height above the already low ground clearance of the van and the hitch. Took less than 30 min to assemble and securely fit into the hitch. All parts function just fine and easy to lash bike wheels in and cinch the upright post onto the frame. Bike and rack didn't rattle or loosen after a couple of short trips. Whole rack is well constructed and not so heavy as more expensive similar styled racks. ... show more

  • Excellent quality. Stable and solid. Great value.
This is a very solid and stable bike carrier. Not just "good for the price," as some of the reviews say, but just plain good. The steel used in the construction is high quality, and very thick and heavy. It is not flimsy thinwall tubing or "chinesium." All of the welds are clean and well formed. The fit and finish is excellent. The engineering is excellent, and all of the connections fit solidly and snugly. Every part of the carrier shows thought and planning. Contrary to what some of the other reviews say, there is no wiggle or wobble at all. Everything is solid, and there is no need for extra washers, shims, bolts, welds, or other modifications some of the other reviewers advise. Just tighten down the pivot bolts sufficiently to remove all play, but not so tight as to restrict pivoting. The included threaded receiver hitch pin prevents all side to side motion, and the U-bolt prevents all up and down motion. These two also work together to make theft much more difficult and less likely. All you will need to assemble the carrier is a 6mm allen wrench and a 17mm socket, box, or open end wrench, or even an adjustable wrench. You will need a 19mm wrench for the U bolt, and a 15/16" for the hitch pin, or again, an adjustable wrench if that is all you have. If you only have SAE tools (inch), you could probably get away with a 3/16 or 7/32 allen wrench, and 11/16 and 13/16 sockets. Assembly took about 15 or 20 minutes, and the instructions were pretty clear. Just finished a 100 mile trip with bikes on the rack. The bikes would have stayed secure with just the top hook, as there is no way for them to move or go anywhere, but we used the included velcro tie downs and the strap anyway. Belt, and suspenders. Neither the bikes nor the carrier moved at all, and anyone familiar with Michigan's wonderful roads knows that they are far from smooth and are horribly maintained. Again, very well engineered carrier, very solid construction, and very good build quality. I would buy this again even at double the price. Factoring the low price into the equation makes this a no-brainer. Very impressed. ... show more

  • Machining, tolerances and welds appear to be good. Confidence inspiring.
Just need it for one bike, for a road trip, and can’t afford a 1up, which is of course a great one. Assembly was fine, although you’ll need some hex keys and a socket wrench set or at minimum a crescent wrench. Just assembled it for one bike currently. Setting up for a second bike would be totally easy and quick, if needed. This rack will not flip up when not in use, so one bike closer to the tailgate will also make the overall rack and car length shorter. All the welds look pretty good and the metal is pretty thick gauge where it counts. With the battery out of my e mtb, as other reviewers have suggested, I feel pretty safe transporting it with this rack. Two e mtbs might be pushing it, although I do have a second one I can test with later. The functionality seems pretty good for the price. The bike feels fairly secure. I will definitely be using the included strap and maybe also my own straps to reinforce the rack, as well as the anti wobble plate. I also purchased some reflective red tape, as other reviewers have suggested, since it’s impossible to collapse the rack when the car is parked at night. You’d have to take it into a hotel room or your home or garage if you’re really worried about someone accidentally hitting it. It does stick out rather far from the car, adding maybe three feet or more of car length if two bikes are on it, so I’m hoping some red tape will at least get someone’s attention before they careen into it. The locking hitch pin works well and has a weather cap to protect the lock iwhich is nice. Angling the rack downward to access the tailgate is clumsy, but achievable. Not surprised how basic the procedure is considering the price. Fanagle a pin out with some grunting and let gravity work. My tires are only 2.6”/2.5” and there is definitely plenty of room for way bigger tires in the tire trays. However, my wheels do feel pretty secure in the trays, although the included Velcro straps to secure the tires are flimsy. I’ll have to think of a way to modify that. Most of the pressure is applied from the cushioned arm securing the top tube of your bike frame, though, and further strapping should do the trick. Hopefully the rack won’t disintegrate while I’m speeding down the freeway. Big investment attached to it. Fingers crossed. ... show more

  • Exceeded expectations/ great value
Style: 2 Bike Rack Upgrate with Lock
I'm not sure this bike rake exceeded expectations, but I am extremely satisfied with this rack. Installed on a Dodge Ram. Assembly was straight forward. It is a solid construction and after mounting and taking the bike out to a few local parks, I saw a little wobble on a few turns. But bike remained secure. Can't beat the value. I only have 1 bike, so I only installed a single pair of the tire cradles. It is kinda fun to mount. If there is a CON and not the bike rack's fault. My backup camera and sensor sees the mounted bike a threat and beeps while backing into spaces.lol. Love the security lock and the nylon/soft rubber straps for the tires. I haven't really needed to tilt the rack back on my truck with my bike mounted. But tailgate does rest on the tilt handle when opened. I can live with that, I think. ... show more

  • Great bicycle rack
Style: 2 Bike Rack Upgrate with Lock
I love this bike rack. The assembly was easy as all parts were individually wrapped and labeled, and the instructions were clear. They thought of everything. Very adjustable, pins all have lanyards. Very sturdy, and holds the bicycles secure. The tilt down feature is easy to operate, with a foot pedal or handle. The anti wobble and lock feature are also very nice. ... show more
