  • Kind of meh
Look it's a $12 rib rack so it's hard to hate on. it does what you need it to do. Using an 18.5 WSM though more than 2 racks would be difficult. Yes once they cooked down I could probably get 3 on this but really when they're raw and about to go on for the first time, leaving them whole like i did was difficult. They kind of just laid half circle towards each other so they fit, but i wasn't too impressed. I'd rather cut them in half next time and just use the grate. At $12 it does what you need it to do, but really 5 full racks on this thing is something i doubt is possible. ... show more

  • Not meant for baby backs
Can't fully love this product because of its shape. If you are cooking ribs, you need to buy the rectangular shaped hoops. These arc hoop shapes don't hold baby backs very well.

  • Good, Not Great
It helped, but you're still going to wish you had a larger smoker. The best way to use the product is to cut your slabs in half. If you bend your babybacks to fit the outward pressure will scrape some of the rub off the surface. It's bad enough having to lay them sideways, but I can't abide scraped off rub. Take precautions accordingly. ... show more

  • Double the surface of your grill for cooking ribs
I got this little rack to be able to cook more ribs at once on my portable grill. It is very sturdy of a heavy gauge wire stock and held two complete racks of baby back pork ribs, once they were cut down to the proper width of my grill. Previously, I would have only been able to cook one of these racks at a time. I LOVE it! Afterwards, I scraped off the little bit of stuck on food and char at the sink and threw it in the dishwasher. Not much stuck to it. Super easy clean-up! Also, I noticed that the ends of the base of this rack are curved to allow it to fit grills that are circular. Not an issue in my case, but I thought it was a nice touch for all the circular shaped grill users out there, and it is not readily obvious in the picture. ... show more

  • Ribs fold over - floppy
If you think this will separate your ribs, it will only do that in the middle. Was trying to get more ribs in my smoker, but this did not work for me. not only do the ends of the ribs fold over on the next row, but it is not ideal if you want baste them with sauce. The rack needs to be 18 inch long or buy two. Plus it would be good if it was angled about 35 degrees to allow for top side basting. Going back to laying the ribs flat. Will devise a second layer rack in my smoker somehow. ... show more

  • Works
Works on my smaller charcoal grill

  • Use it a lot - rarely for ribs though
For ribs, I feel like the spacing is too tight. It is nearly impossible to rotate or remove the ribs without damaging the bark. That, however, does not mean i don't use it. I have an 18' WSM and I use this all the time with large briskets. II will lay the brisket over the top of it at the beginnign of the cook until it shrinks down. Once it shrinks, I remove it. Even if it doesn't work great for ribs, it enables me to cook larger cuts in my smaller smoker - ... show more

  • Happy with the purchase, but product could use a little redesigning...
Used these with St. Louis style ribs. I ordered two, because all the reviews said that they worked best with half racks, and we were planning on smoking 3 racks for a party. We ended up cutting the racks in half anyway, though it's not because of these; it just worked out better for us that way. My only complaint is that the ribs flopped over the top when we first put them on, because the supports are not very tall. However, after the ribs were smoked, they turned out fine. Also, because we had the room, we used every other slot for the ribs, giving them a little breathing room for cooking. ... show more
