  • Don't be on the fence -- you deserve this grill! Absolutely love :)
Style: Grill
I've had my eye on this grill for probably 6 years! I've always had a 22" Weber charcoal grill -- because in my eyes, there is no other grill. My wife finally pulled the trigger and gave me permission to purchase the perfomer deluxe (green), yes I said she gave me permission, haha. I am IN LOVE with this grill. However, it came with one very small chip in the hood/lid. After contacting Amazon to see what my options were (as the grill was already assembled by someone they had contracted out to perform the work) it was a unique circumstance. Amazon came through as they always do and offered a solution. I am extremely happy with the purchase. I have no doubt that with proper care, I will have this grill for another 30 years. The expert installation included: She came and set up my grill in a little under 2 hours. She then placed all packaging back into the main box, and stored away. When she was finished she asked if I had time to go over the features of the grill. She took me to it and explained different things, why things are set up the way they are, and how to register the product with the manufacturer. This seemed to all be above and beyond what I expected (which was someone to come put it together and leave). Definitely recommend using the professional assembly service offered -- especially if you receive as good of service as I did. ... show more

After a 16-year hiatus of using a gas grill, I decided I wanted to get back to charcoal grilling. I think I read every review and every answered question before I ordered. I was particularly interested in alternate hookups for the gas ignition. As it turned out, I had a good supply of the Coleman 1lb propane bottles as I use them for my outdoor propane light. However, upon completed assembly and first use, I determined that the grill control valve for the gas was not 100% secure in shutting off. So after one night, a brand new bottle of propane was found to be empty. After second and third uses of the grill, it seems to be shutting off better as I still have some gas left in the bottle. My old grill was a Weber gas grill and a long time ago, I had run a propane splinter line from my big 100 gallon tank up to my deck and using the proper hose and fittings, I bypassed any need for the big portable 20lb tanks. So naturally, my thoughts focused on getting the same hookup for my new Weber Performance grill. It didn't take long to find the proper fitting to mate with the brass female fitting on the grill -- it is a Coleman 2000015166 Bulk Adaptor. https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-2000015166-Bulk-Adaptor/dp/B0009PUQAA/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=Coleman+bulk+adapter&qid=1602802506&sr=8-3. The beauty of this setup is that in addition to the shutoff valve on the grill, I also have a main gas shutoff on the gas line on my deck. I give high marks for the quality of construction of this grill. Assembly went smooth although I ended up being shorted a couple of flat washers. After using the grill 3 times, I am getting better at loading the charcoal baskets with the proper quantity of briquettes, and how to space baskets for best results. ... show more

  • Where were these 10 years ago!
Style: Grill
Okay there is something to be said about the packaging, instructions and build quality to be spoken here. It's all top-notch. Retired the ol' gas-BBQ and went with this hybrid. They say you can't tell the difference between gas and charcoal prepared foods. Um, that may be true for hamburger or hot-dogs, but you can most definitely tell with steaks, kabobs etc. The operation is stupid easy I don't get reports of the gas nozzle needing much attention as in clogging? Weber includes instructions on cleaning the gas tip but it's a tube with a flared end. Not too exotic and have never experienced a need to clean the burner. This pup has a powder-coated work surface and is a great size. Get the "Classic Accessories Ravenna Grill Cover" (here on Amz) for the Performer and you're set! ... show more

  • Nice but two stripped screw holes!
Style: Grill
The grill is awesome, but two of the screw holes for the table were not machined correctly so I had to use a nut and bolt for one hole and the other hole I cannot get the screw out. So its in most of the way but will not tighten completely. You would think that when spending $400.00 Weber would make sure to double check their craftsmanship before selling. ... show more

  • Great grill for charcoal grillers.
Style: Grill
I've always been a fan of charcoal grilling (as opposed to gas), but lighting the coals has always been a pain. Growing up, my father had a very fancy bbq/grill built-in to the deck when they remodeled, and it included a gas pipe to get the coals going. With my last grill, I'd been using a chimney starter and aiming a plumbing torch into one of the air holes. This worked, but it wasn't as easy. I specifically asked for this model for Father's day this year because of the gas lighting system. Putting the grill together was fairly easy, if you're handy. I particularly like the system of inserts that you can swap out for the middle. I've already used the sear grate and the poultry cooker and the results both times were excellent. The gas lighting system works perfectly even with the charcoal basket things they include (those make it easy to make a roasting fire setup with a drip pan under the poultry cooker and the two baskets of charcoal on either side). The generous table area is a definite plus - much more space than I had with our old grill. I could go on and on with each of the features they outline in the brochure - just about all of them are helpful. If I had any criticism it would be that the knobs intended for hanging utensils don't actually fit any of the things we had to hang, and the coal bucket isn't large enough for the larger size bags of charcoal. But those are minor complaints overall. ... show more

  • 500 dollar paper weight
Style: Grill
Holes do not line up. It cannot be put together. Someone in the Weber factory had one job only and messed it up. I've never spent so much money on something that is a complete failure. I cant use it because because it cannot be put together. I've tried every single combination imaginable and it won't work. I can't even drill new holes and make it line up be said the threaded inserts are in the wrong locations. For the price this cost this is unacceptable ... show more
